I can't find a definitive answer online, some say yes, others say no :spock:

Thx

No. Most MVS boards don't even have the -5v pins present on the JAMMA edge. Those boards often have "SNK" silkscreened in place of those pins (MV-1A, 1FZ etc).

Very few JAMMA boards require the -5V. From memory, most (all?) Midway games (Mortal Kombat games, NBA Jam, Killer Instinct, etc.) and a few others. For sure, the Neo Geo, CPS1, CPS2, Atomiswave and PGM do NOT require it at all.

Regards.

For an MV1C, 1A is nearly always enough, though some carts will draw more. 2A will be more than adequate, but it won't ever hurt to go higher.

Indeed the highest current that was drawn so far on my MV1A is 1.6A. I've got the same readings for the MV1FZ.
