Exerion - Jaleco 1983 - Repair Log

This game has a specific 36 pin connector so I had to build a converter (to JAMMA).
First symptoms were no video signals (no sync) but sound worked: replaced 74LS74 @ M9.
Then black screen with sound: replaced 2 * 153s @ D2 & E2.
I obtained an image but with a corrupted sprite layer (completely covering the background layer):





I replaced 2 RAMs @ B11 & D10:





I finally noticed dipswitches 1 were not working: replaced 74LS245 @ M2.

Game repaired.

You know, I expected most of those boards to just become spare parts donors - but I guess with enough know-how, time, and parts, you can fix anything

I did a lot of progress on Rush'n'Crash, game is now playable with sound but the text layer is still corrupted (I should have found a dozen of dead ICs on this board).
I've worked on Chelnov a bit too, dead 68k, lots of dead ICs... Game now displays a garbage screen but I know more ICs are dead (completely floating outputs).
