Sega Saturn jp, saves games, but not date/time

Hey all,
My sega Saturn is baffling me, My games save fine, with the new battery. But The date/time does not save. Every time I turn the power off and on I have to set the date/time. Any Idea?

Battery starting to fail?
I mean it might be still good to maintain SRAM but not enough to run the clock.

I've tried that, I've replaced the batter with 2 new ones and both do the same thing.

The calendar chip could be dead.

Is your system modded by chance? I fixed a system a while back with a messed up region mod that would reset the calendar ever time you flipped the switch.
