According to the Twitter account where this unreleased game recently surfaced, Konami痴 Shanghai division were nearing completion of their Salamander HD Remaster. Although looking promising and visually impressive, albeit with several free-to-play mechanics, the game was sadly cancelled. Despite this, one of the developers working on the title decided to finish what he started and unofficially released the game to retro gamers worldwide.

From what I understand this is just a shitty Chinese cash grab or was suppose to be before it was cancelled?

IIRC that was an independent project from Konami China not endorse by Konami Japan.

Seems decent enough, but the game looks incredibly easy from the footage. Maybe to compensate for shitty touchscreen controls?

Yeah, I don't know a lot about it since I don't have the ability to actually load it and try. Seeing it on retrocollect I figured gave it a bit of credence but try it at your own peril I suppose.
