My friend started sculpting recently and he inspired me to take up the super sculpy again. At this stage it's about 1/3rd done. I am going to add wires and tubes and a bit of the machinery of Hell to it.

Looks pretty cool so far; I like the simian features.

The piece is 7 1/2 in. tall by 3 1/2 in. wide, and the medium is called 'Super Sculpey'. It's what a lot of people use to make those maquette statues of super heroes and comic book characters. It is backed by just under a half inch of hardwood sanded to match the contours of the sculpture itself. I'll have more pics up later tonight.

Since it's the weekend, and I set myself a deadline, I am pulling an all-nighter. The finished piece goes in the mail tomorrow at 2 pm. Here are a couple of pics from around 2 AM:

I want my friend to be surprised when he opens the package. I have known this guy since '96 and he is the only person I know that loves horror movies and artwork as much as I do. Maybe more, he has taken airplanes to horror conventions around the US and Canada.

The pics were taken right after I finished the eyes and during the ink wash stages. At 4:30 am I still have at least 5 or 6 hours to go, I'm layering on highlights and blending the colors since then.

I had my friend take a few quick pics for me, so here's the finished work:

He told me he thought it was 'amazing', so I am very happy with the results of all the work I put into it. Thanks for the compliments guys, I will post more stuff like this before too long.

That's awesome! I have some sculpy lying around. That's a lot! I bet you have a good chunk of cash invested in that one. Money well spent it looks like.
