I wonder if Jon Stewart would still quit if Trump was elected.

Having Trump in the race ups the entertainment factor exponentially. I'd much rather see Trump vs Sanders than another Bush vs Clinton.

Running the country like a business is one of a laundry list of stupid Republican soundbites. Besides, they'd lose a lot of their core constituents if the Medicare and Social Security burdens were axed and the vast military bloat was downsized.

For a country that prides itself on freedom and personal liberty, why do people continue to vote almost exclusively for Republicans or Democrats? Sure, the Democrats tend to be the saner choice but the differences between the two parties are mostly trivial. Obama is basically Bush Lite. They are both funded by the same big businesses and special interest groups. It's not dissimilar to the WWE: a lot of bluster and fighting but at the end of the day Vince McMahon gets paid either way.

You know the answer to this.

People are indoctrinated into adversarial dualism from their childhood years. God vs Satan, Yankees vs Red Sox, Barca vs Real Madrid, and the list goes on. Higher contrast means easier to decide on issues predictably. We have a world that seeks more predictability. We have a system of laws to help make law suits more predictable. We hate surprises.

And I think that's why that Church gets shot up in Charleston. That kid, raised in another country without the adversarial mentality, would have no internal desire for a nemesis. He wouldn't hate simply to justify his upbringing.

But I imagine that people would go crazy against the idea of not fighting and destroying opposition. The idea of reaching out an unclenched hand to those who oppose us, however, should be thought about.

I literally mourned for a week or so when George died. I wish that man could have held office. Well... I mean he would have been assassinated, but still.

Anyone who thinks a government can be run like a business doesn't understand the most basic microeconomic theory. Businesses exist in a marketplace and they respond to a pricing system. Pricing in a government-directed enterprise is necessarily arbitrary.

God...Trump, Bush, and Clinton...if that is a ballot for President and any of those three win, heaven help us all, because they won't.

Yeah...I agree completely.

Not that this will ever happen, but if government spending was only on essentials and the tax system was corrected...things would balance out perfectly fine. Currently, the poor are over taxed, the mega businesses are under taxed and government spending is just completely out of control. Not that I expect any of that to ever happen...but it's a nice thought.

the more I watch of him ... the more he grows on me.
TBH he is the ONLY guy who answers every question asked! and the reporters that ALWAYS try to corner him and end looking stupid in the end.

I have problems with him on two main levels.

1. Full of shit. Either he has no idea what's really going on out there or how things work. Could be a liar, but I believe he's just full of it.
Every time he opens his mouth it's like wow really, this guys a nut.
http://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/statements/

Example: He's going to put a tax or tariff on Ford for making a plant in Mexico.
First he would have to cancel Nafta then he could get a bill for a special tax on Ford. Both would take oversight and could easily be buried for his full term/terms. He can't just snap his fingers and say...Ford tax.

Think he's still ranting about that birther stuff.

2. Huge ego, won't admit he's wrong. Goes back to #1
Take for example this whole Mexican immigrants statement. He just won't back down.
It's cost him his show, pageants and soon land deals.
He better be really running for president it may soon be all he has left if he keeps going at this rate.

He does excite me though.
What if we go with the exact opposite of what we've had for the last eight years.
Trump might be wrong but he can always get people to do what he wants.
Look at how he's developed real estate, never since the time of the Pharaoh has anybody changed geography like he has (bit of an exaggeration but bare with me) I'm sure every step of the way he's met resistance. This is the wrong neighborhood, it can't be done and so on.

He WILL excite Wall Street and put people back to work.
I agree with him that this country and it's infrastructure are an investment.
This is something that separates him form other republicans.
Why would you invest or not in something... because you believe in it.

Other ways he's different from other republicans he doesn't want to gut or end everything like Social Security, Medicare just fix it.
Since he puts people to work and wants to bring back American greatness and manufacturing I would hope he could get that union vote.
He claimed in his announcement that he works with them frequently and is very successful with it. I believe him.

I also don't see him as being as easily corruptible as any other the other candidates.
I think it would be very expensive to get him to go against what he's going to do.
What are you going to do, offer him a golf getaway.. he owns the resorts.
I also don't see him as that close with big money and those shadowy figures.
Yeah I bet he knows them and hobnobs with them but I'd imagine they largely think he's a joke.

So far him or Christie are my favorite.

tow the PC line or face dire consequences

I don't think so.. Univision can't just walk away from their contract and can now look forward to being sued in court

It's not just un pc it's insane.

When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.

With the comments now all the stats I can find only show total number of crimes.
Makes it hard to figure out because nobody knows the exact # of illegals here currently.
I've done research in the past and found typically illegals are something like 45% less likely to commit crimes than the general population. Most of them don't come here to go to prision.

Argument, well then there buddy anything more than one is too many.

Anyways it's the weakest and most ignorant argument against illegal immigration around.

Trump was asked to "tone it down" by a GOP leader. That says a lot.

The problem, however, is not that he needs to tone anything down. The problem is there are actually people uneducated enough, ignorant enough, and racist enough to stand behind his remarks and cheer him on.

I can understand he speaks his mind, and I can see how some people like that... but when what's coming out of his mouth is insane you have to take that into account.

The republican side of the primary race so far is fucking hilariously bad. None of these fucks are fit to hold that office. I'm not fond of hillary either; I'd vote for her if I had to to keep another republican out of the white house, but she's just as sold out as they all are anyway.

The only people in washington I remotely trust at all are Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Unfortunately in this country... well, this quote says it best:

“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”

― John Steinbeck

The dream act rhetoric is broadcast throughout central America as an open border and free welfare/ciudania policy
