Do you have a NGPC now? Did you 15 years ago?

My understanding is that they're not like the arcade games, so the language they have on them is it. It's too bad, I'd buy a NGPC to do Biomotor Unitron again, but not at its going rate.

I think everything text-heavy isn't dual language. And some random games are single-language as well, Gal's Fighters and Last Blade come to mind.

I have a NGP & NGPC in storage somewhere. I bought a B&W original NGP at original Japanese launch. :)

I remember wanting a NGPC more than anything and ended up getting a Sega Nomad well before it. Not a bad trade off really, especially with the, albeit mediocre, built in frontlight which has always marred my gameplay sessions in my dark dormroom lair. Last Blade and Gal's Fighters are my fav (ofc CVS is the best, but have yet to get it ironically, only played through emulation back in the day). I got an Anthracite beauty a few years ago and am in the process of getting it frontlit by James at Jamma Nation X (I'm sure you're here somewhere bud, thanks a million btw)

Is Faselei! worth all the hype and crazy price the english copy yeilds btw? Looks similar to Front Mission based on a glance.

Yes. My favourite ngpc game, and one of my favourite games ever.

As to the original question:
I think I must have gotten my first one around 2003-2004? Anthracite version via ebay with a couple of games? Not sure which ones. As of a few years ago the screen stopped working for me and I scooped up a second one through the forums here, but the battery compartment was damaged during shipping. Frankensteining the two together into one working unit has been on my to do list ever since. Adulting has meant not getting around to it yet, but the urge to play faselei again grows stronger with each passing day...
it's only a matter of time...

I play the NGP on occasion. I like to play Turf Masters on breaks when I'm at work.

It kind of reminds me of Front Mission. It's a great game. I haven't played it in quite awhile.

and I'm back in the game! Thank you neo-geo.com, for consistently lighting a fire under my ass. After 5ish ngpc-less years, it took practically no time at all.

Actually, most of the time went into trying to fix either one individually, but the anthracite one keeps spontaneously crashing and the silver one has some seriously brittle plastic issues on the back portion.

that actually looks kinda nice :glee:

Definitely better than I thought it would. I considered just swapping the board over - and may still do that at some point - but one of the issues I had in the past with the anthracite one was potentially screen related, and I didn't feel like taking a chance on having to swap all over again.

Whelp time to hunt one down then.

Yeah maybe its just the mecha SRPG element but something about the actual art itself reminds me of the sprites in the first few Front Mission games.

Be patient and you can snag one for much less than the going price. I got mine for $40 last year on an ebay auction that I lucked out on. It's a fun game and definitely a needed one in the library.

So whom is going to do the next NGPC discussion thread?

I swear this thread is fun but it's baiting my mostly dead interest in scooping up past systems I once owned. I really put quite a lot of hours in its heyday on the NGPC. NTM, MOTM, SS2!, KOFR2, MS1st and 2nd, Biomotor Unitron, Dive Alert, Pac-Man, Sonic, Last Blade, and more -- I had a good bit of fun with it. Maybe i should shrink my $ footprint, see what the games go for just loose, last go around I kept everything complete and immaculate and unlike most those boxes were handy.

I picked up a NGPC bundle on eBay 6 years ago. Loved playing Match of the Millennium and Card Fighters on my commute but stopped playing it once the 3DS came out. I got back into collecting NGPC this time last year. Last night bought the original Neo Geo Pocket along with King of Fighters R-1 and today I spent some time figuring out which NGPC games are playable on NGP! I'm going to try to collect the casino games and text-lite Japanese library since I have most of the good English games. I never thought I'd say it, but I'm currently interested in picking up Densha de Go! 2 since it seems to be a good lite version of the arcade game.

My friend has a slightly different NGPC console (newer model?)
You no longer need using dime or quarter to unlock & change lithium battery:

I wonder what became of mine... I bought one at Babbages when I was in high school and it got stolen from a hotel room.

I then got another on that site ebay used to own, can't remember what it's called. I had some decent games but then never replaced what I had with the original.

Yall are telling me biomotor is worth a lot of money? That game was pretty fun till I realized there was no boss. No epic finish. So odd.

My brother's slimline NGPC and games got stolen too. A few years ago my family hired a house cleaning crew as a surprise for my mom and they walked out with a few things :/

If anyone ever sees a silver slimline NGPC with JP Gal's Fighters and KOF R-2 feel free to alert me lol

@Liquid Snake that's the JP only slimline NGPC

Yup biomotor unitron is one of the more expensive probably since it's unique and pretty good. And you're thinking of buy.com I believe.

BMU is a great game. Shame the sequel never got an English release or translation patch.

I was looking through my old Neo Geo Pocket Color box to look at the Sonic manual, since I bought the System that came with Sonic, and I found my original receipt. I got a kick out it. Its dated before I even joined here.

I had two when they were first released in NA. Don't remember how or why I got two, but I did. One was a solid color and the other was sort of a camo blue color. I loved all the fighters on it, and it was a good introduction to SNK.

I ended up with the silver one that came in the box with Sonic Adventure all bundled together. That little handheld SNK never really gave it a good chance which is sad, had they got better third party support who knows. Probably likely would still have failed against the GBA but the library probably would have been wider and more diverse to pick from.

That is great! So your first game was Sonic, what else did you get?

The first game I bought was Magical Drop pocket. I then bought Card Fighters Clash on eBay on accident because I thought it was MOTM. I then got MOTM, Gals Fighters, KOF R-2, and Fatal Fury, Sam Sho, and Last Blade. Buddy of mine gave me Neo Turf Masters.

This is what I currently have. I only recently picked up Metal Slug, Puzzle Link, and Pocket Tennis a few weeks ago at a show. The rest, I've had for almost as long as I've had the system.
