I've been thinking about running the NeoDS emulator on my 3DS XL using an R4 card. Has anyone here used this for Neo on the go? Any issues? Better/worse compared to the NGX?

Neo Geo emulation on 3DS is spotty at best.
Some games run great, others require frameskips and run at low speed.

If you REALLY want a Neo Geo in your pocket, try MVSPSP on a PSP.
It's far faster and more accurate than NeoDS.

I've tried it recently, it's worse than the NGX by a wide margin. I'll second DNSDies's advice on just using a PSP for Neo emulation. Unlike the R4, it'll run whatever you throw at it just fine.

I actually had the best luck using a DS lite with flash carts in both slots. Neo ds ran from the ds flash cart and used the gba flash cart as extra ram.

It's not ideal though, there are better solutions for Neo on the go.

If you have a vita with CFW, it's GREAT for arcade emulation.

You can even go tate by going into test mode and flipping the screen so you use the right analog stick and face buttons while holding the it vertically.

I was playing some Dimahoo on the PSP CPS2 emulator.

You have to use the non-slim version on Vita though, as it doesn't have full access to the 32MB of RAM in PSP mode.

PSP definitely does not get enough love

This. Lots of JRPG remakes, and the third birthday which I have not had time to play yet. Just get the PSP Arcade collection and Metal Slug Anthology.
