It's still within what I'm willing to pay for it and I already have a loose cart. I'm hoping it stays below $200, but I'll likely pass that by a good margin.

It's actually a good game. As I'm sure you know.
I'd rate it higher than the slot sims for playability.
Certainly as highly as any of the casino games tbh.
As for the rarity, it's certainly at the top of the list.

So if a game like last blade can make £180-£200 complete? There must be many hundreds of LB's for each Reversi!
Even among the post recall rarities like Evolution, Dynamite Sluggaer, Baccarat, Cool Boarders and Cotton, Reversi is the stand-out holy grail.

Even though it's only going to appeal to the complete-freaks, I would expect it to go far, far higher.

Oh yeah, great little game. I have the CIB Japanese edition and loose UK cart.

It's funny how it's holding steady, I'm pretty sure a lot of sniper bidding will occur the last 10 seconds of the auction and balloon the price.

I totally agree. People have tested the water to a point where they think the seller won't be tempted to pull it for a behind the scenes offer. Now the waiting game begins.
I wonder how many watchers it's got?

That's another funny thing, usually eBay shows how many people are watching a auction, but I think the seller disabled that feature. HAHA.

I hope it doesn't go for over $200, and set some dumb precedent for the next one. It's hard to find, but not absurdly scarce. I think I paid $100 for mine, which was extremely difficult for me to justify.

I can't imagine there are many new people starting to collect NGPC and are at the point where they are ready to pay triple digits for a reversi game. Remember, at the moment, there aren't people who like the system to garner a NGPC specific sub-forum...

I completely agree.

There seems to be two main bidders, one of them will sniper bid at the end, if not both. It's almost to the point where I won't bid. I'll live with my loose cart for now.

I guess it depends on how you measure absurdly rare, but I'd certainly rate complete Reversi's as very rare in the context of UK releases.
As for the price? They've sold for a lot more than $200 in the past.
If a game like Last Blade can make up to £200 GBP when there are literally many hundreds of complete examples for every one complete reversi, then the price this one realizes will be depend on as you say, the amount of actual collectors that are aiming for a complete 39.
I'd be very surprised if it didn't make $250-$350.

Or they could be just warming it up for the seriously deep pocketed to swoop right at the end?

I'd totally be down for a NGPC sub-forum.

Interesting. We'll have to see how it goes.

Looks like a boring game for the money though.

I estimated about $250. i had no idea it would go so high, but it's probably influenced by AES and MVS cart prices as well.

Holy crap! Watching it in real-time was insane, and one of the two main bidders ended up winning it. It's still $100 lower than the resent B/W Samurai Shodown.

480 lol..
How embarrassing. To think, someone will spend that much on an NGPC title, much less, a shitty Reversi title. Mental illness IS a life long battle though. Not something (evidently) everyone is able to overcome.

NGPC titles are worth fuck all in the grand scheme. Have been for years. All this price driving is just false economy, self price jacking and fake self price justification bullshit.

Just in case anybody wondered...

I think the price is no surprise.
I think it could have made even more.
For example, Last Blade seems to sell for more on eBayUK, with the last two selling for £200 and £180.
Whereas the last two complete UK versions on eBayUSA sold for $129.99 and $139.99 I think.
So would it have made more on the UK site? Possibly.
Would it have made more if the seller had bigged it up a bit in the lackluster description?
Again, possibly.

It made just shy of £300GBP for a genuinely rare game that collectors have probably been waiting to find for a good while.
Relatively common games (by comparison) like Last Blade and even Cotton or Evolution that are usually available are making £150-£200.

The NGPC is a superb system with a limited back catalogue, which dangles the carrot of finishing a collection in front of players.

I got into the NEO-scene through the NGPC and that led me to MVS.
I wanted to get into the AES side, but frankly it's a mess.

Dodgy carts, conversions, reprints, 'corrected inserts'. Not a recipe to attract new blood into the scene.
Especially in the long term. I wouldn't want a lot of cash tied-up in AES carts.

Whereas the NGPC is a great little system, without the 'baggage'. A newbie can get into collecting it without the worry of getting their fingers burned.
And of course, we are seeing a resurgence of interest in retro-handhelds.

If you like SNK then it seems the obvious choice. And of course it doesn't take up much room!

Reversi isn't the only rare title that doesn't regularly appear on ebay.
It'll be interesting to see how hard the fight is over the next complete copy of Picture Puzzle or Baccarat! Even Shanghai or Dive Alert Becky?

If as some suspect there are more copies of Reversi floating around than suspected, we may well see people trying to cash in on this price now and listing them on fleabay.

Wow.

Can't say I'm surprised with the end price, though.

If I was one of the underbidders, that's what I'd be hoping! With each additional listing bring the price down a bit more.
I suspect that we might see one or perhaps two, if the few lucky enough to own them have a spare. But I don't think this will end up proving that Reversi is anything other than a very rare game.
