Thanks guys. It was a fun project and the feel of the controllers is awesome. Anyone who is considering building your own stick should check out okwenclosures for the case. In the end you get a controller with your preferred button layout and spacing, color scheme, and the brand of parts to suit your individual style and it still costs less than most of the sticks out there. Thanks to everyone who helped me along the way.

I built my own joystick and used a 4 button printed plate, seimitsu buttons and seimitsu ls-40 stick, but to be honest I tend to prefer playing fighters with the official Neo Geo pad 2 for PS2 via an adapter. I just really love the feel of that controller, closest thing to a larger Neo Geo Pocket stick and it feels great.
