I like the assortment of the first six, which have kind a of a jewelry/embroidery thing going on. The majority of the rest of them are a bit too surreal/abstract for me, although they're visually interesting to look at.

Haha, the movement photos are a bit dizzying for some, I may just pic one or two of my favorites including:

Some of these are very calming

Thank you, the “landscapes" are interesting because though seemingly vast, they are close up photos of minute folds in a dancer’s costume.

Thank you, the ornate gold areas are created by arranging shoelaces.

Yeah if you mean the tessellation designs, absolutely! One of the inspirations to a lot of my work, is in fact that I teach youth and tune my style to something appealing for kids as well as older and more seasoned art critics.

Damn, very interesting work man.

There is an other worldly quality and feel to it.

Feels like something you would see on a No Man's Sky planet.

Cool shit. You should give some more "background" info on these (or would that ruin the magic?).

Thank you! That is what exactly what I like to hear :)

It is an issue I’ve struggled with and it often depends on the situation. Some people like hearing about the process and are far more interested when they know and understand the source material. Other times I may go a bit too far and then, like you say, it loses that unknown quality that makes a spectator ponder.

Thank you! Here is a better look. As you can possibly see, it’s all shoelaces.

I wouldn't have guessed shoelaces in a hundred years. I thought it was flames. I'm digging the triptych second from last. Looks like a sunset on the ocean to me. Nice work Chem!

I love it. The colors make me think about Gold and fire. If you flip it upside down, it looks like there's a warrior with a cool helmet holding two swords in the middle, just like a mandalla.

How the fuck did you make this out of shoelaces ?! How do you even make this? like whats the process, what is the media it is presented in ?

I can't it even see the shoelaces.

Nice work Chem, looks great. I like how they change in appearance in different scales and how you can distinguish different objects when you zoom in and look close for a while.

I usually don’t go into much detail but because you saw the upside-down “Buddhist-Warrior” I will share a bit about how I made it. Almost all my art is with the help of my students, typically between the ages of 4-10. The art itself becomes an extension and byproduct of my teaching. Without my students, I wouldn’t have the creativity, spontaneity, or even motivation to create the art in the first place. Each piece I make has a story, with real people who were part of a memory.

For that project students arranged several dozen shoelaces under ultraviolet lighting. They took some “movement photographs” and captured blurry images. Then I edit and make digital designs in a simple editor. I usually print pieces as gifts for friends, family, and coworkers. Once in a while I have a exhibitions and sell prints.

This flowchart will give you an idea of how the progression occurs:

That is so cool. I love how each piece is made with the help of your students. Each work is not just an extension of yourself, but also of the memory of you and your class. Deep.
