I know a lot of people out there think the excessive value and appreciation for this handheld is unjustified. But I point those to two recent auction sales. Say what you want about noobs paying above value but unfortunately these are the people that are eventually standardising the market value.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331424224478?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 151 bids

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321625133726?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I got this for about a fifth of that on these forums only last year.

We can all say people are stupid (they are), but that doesn't have an impact on recognised market value outside of these forums.

that first link is crazy, all Japanese titles and it looks like there is 2 duplicates in there also plus one covered with a sticker so I cant tell what it is.

seller must be jumping for joy with the final price.

Most of those titles are the same ones that sat for years on ebay for $3.99. Most of them still aren't that expensive. Is that color variant of NGPC rare?

every time i see this ? "private listing - bidders' identities protected" i don't even think about bidding.

2nd listing the seller was raising prices by opening new account and bidding to bump price... too bad some absolute moron bought it in the end.

That first auction has to be a joke, right? There's no way that stuff is worth even 1/10th the final sale price.

I was following both auctions expecting around 120 euros for the ngpc+games but this price is totally stupid !! (same for the bag)

I watched the bag and was stunned for how much it went.

God damn I don't understand why people go this nuts.
This forums might be one of the last peninsula of reason out there...

the bag was bumped from the seller from 19.50 to 45. Too bad no one reported him for fraudulent activity and some shmuck bought it for 46.

It's all me, haven't you heard?
I'm going to introduce a VGA type grading system next to make the few genuinely rare games unplayable!
;)

Seriously though. I know some of this is the usual xmas bump (not especially these) but what happened with Magical Drop?

I went to a retro gaming store and saw 1 or 2 NGPC games in a special case at a premium price as if they were AES games or something. I don't understand it really.

"if it says "NEO GEO" on it, it must be valuable, right?"

To be fair, NGPC games are pretty rare in the wild - - the casual gamer or even gaming store is not going to see enough volume to have much insight into their true value.

What's odd about the first auction listed in this thread is the title selection. Not a single "blue chip" NGP game and a few that are completely %100 worthless, most without cases. The cart that's unknown must be that rare Neo Poke-kun / Last Blade combo cart that I just invented right now.

What's Super Real or CF2 going for these days? I ask because either should be more valuable than that whole lot.

I remember you had to go to EB Games to get anything NGPC related in the US. Wal*Mart did carry the Sonic pack.

Those prices are beyond nuts.

I sold a copy of Evolution UK on eBay for $80 during what I thought was an NGP boom, probably around XMas 2000. I felt like a thief since I only paid £20 for it a month earlier.

Nowadays, some Englishman would probably agree to pay off my house for the same game.
