Just pre-purchased (foolish I KNOW). It looks like it unlocks on December 12th. Let's hope it's a smooth launch and we can get some KOF going on.

Now I just need to relearn how to play the game... I remember loving that Shermie. I liked her a lot better in 2k2 (which I think is also coming to Steam later).

I'm excited!

It will be interesting if enough people care about UMFE to stop playing on Fightcade/GGPO. Seems unlikely. Hopefully the netplay is serviceable, although XIII is a step in the right direction.

I'm going to buy the game 1st day, but personally don't expect a good netcode from a company that can barely advertise it's even going to steam. My gut tells me this is something they slap assed together to make a quick buck. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

Here's the company handling the port: http://www.codemystics.com/news.shtml

I played the hell out of the Dragon's Lair DS port that they did. It was a solid effort. I'm glad that a few people on here will get it. I tried a bit of UM, but never FE. I'm excited to see how the slight balance stuff feels. It's all going to make me want to pick up the 98 neo cart again.. I'll resist as long as possible.

You know playing 98UM and 02UM on the 360 makes me want to play '98 and '02 on the MVS cabinet less. Having more moves and more ex versions/characters to play then going back to the original is rough.

I never picked up UM on any other platform so I'll be grabbing it on steam for sure.

98 UM is C-R-A-P next to the original.
Not even Geese and Eiji addictions made it better.
The gameplay is simply horrible.

2002 UM is a different story tho.
It simply outclasses the original 2K2 on the AES/MVS in every single way.

I might give it a shot and wreck havoc with my team ;)

What was wrong with UM? I've only played it for a bit. Do some of the combos not connect? I plan on getting 98 for neo again.
I love 2k2.. but haven't played it years. It's coming in December or January to Steam as well. I'll probably be a sucker and get that one as well.

I wish they'd just go ahead and bundle Sam Sho 2 and FFS together. They'd get all my money.

I really don't like how they "fixed" the game.

Some bugs/exploits are no longer possible.
Some chars are completely shitty there ( Ralf is useless ).
Then you have reasons to complain about the overpowered ones like Krauser.
His CD beats almost anything.

The game feels just weird. The controls aren't as responsive.
I don't like the life/special bars either.

It's a good opportunity Playmore missed to do a great remake/revival.

Oh no. I hope FE is better. I felt that all of my PS2 ports (of neo stuff) had slow response time. I really hope they get the Steam port right. I preordered, so I'll post my impressions first thing. I'll even mess around with the neo game for a bit to compare them.

I used play Terry and Shermie quite a bit back in the day. Yashiro was always cool as well.. so many characters! I've been playing nothing but 95 for the last few years.

The steam page says that the original is also included in the package.

^ Just to warn you if they use the 360 version as a template, '98 original was not playable online. It was strictly an offline game on '98 UM. Dunno if that will be a deal breaker for you to buy or not.

There's nothing wrong with not liking the changes they made but if they're going to update '98, they had to fix the bugs and broken shit in that game. Otherwise, they're just porting '98 for the umpteenth time. Apart from Krauser being braindead broken, UM is fine. Assuming the port is good, they hit Krauser with the nerf bat and the lag isn't awful online (like in the 360 port), I'll gladly fork over the $15.

The version coming to Steam is 98UM Final Edition. It has better balance. Krauser is nerfed along with a few others.

cornerstone: I love your VF avatar.

I'm getting really hyped for this now. I had never heard of Final Edition. One more week until release!

Thanks man. I'd play VF all day if everyone else would....

They don't.

DUDE. Tell me about it. The last PS3 game was so good. No one to play it with. I might just turn it on and try my luck online.

I pre-purchased it. What the hell, right? There is a 20% discount if you buy before the release date of 12/16, making it $11.99

Just a thought. I wonder if they moved the release date to 12/16 to get more pre orders cause that is how they are deciding if they are going to release KOF '02UM and if they don't meet a certain number then it won't be released.

Considering they already ported '98 UM (not FE) on the 360 and it didn't sell well........ not good
