I have such a boner right now I'm gonna need surgery to get it down.

I went to retropallooza in Arlington Texas last mont with shadowkn55, where I met teddykgb, neoturfmasta, and robivy64. Mr. 64 had a sharpx68000 vi with a compact flash mod that had me discharging Cowper's fluid.

It also has quality porn games, like metal orange....

And are you happy now?

I was hooked, and I determined to get one myself. Japanese computers was a big step into uncharted territory, so I was pretty nervous about possibly spending a ton of money and getting in way over my head and left with nothing in the end.

Regardless, I picked up vi compact with a midi expansion and synthesizer, as well as a 10mg ram expansion off the 'bay. It came with a keyboard, mouse, and this piece of shit from Casio, makers of fine products worldwide:

The hard disk replacement was a fucking Jaz drive, held together with tape.

It died in 2 weeks. I needed a cf mod. On a compact model this is horrible. It requires an external SCSI enclosure to put your SCSI to cf card in. Robivy64 sent me one, but it was hell finding a cable that would connect it to the c68k. I eventually found one. Hen I struggled with getting the thing to work for a month. I quickly learned that SCSI stands for "system can't see it". However, with some help from the dudes at the Gamesx forums, I finally got it up and running today!

The thing is a complicated mess, more complex than a genesis with a sega cd and 32x on it. I've got a midi controller, SCSI enclosure, and 2 channel audio mixer to mix the midi and fm audio together.

Here's me, intimately enjoying the final product:

I expect this to get photoshopped to hell and pasted all over the war room.

I want to thank broken, neoturfmasta, shadowkn55, teddykgb, and robivy64 for all their help and patience when I called them crying.

This is a big deal to me because I suck at any sort of ancient computer stuff and I can't read Japanese. Im sure you guys could do this in 2 hours.

True, it was much easier to do the whole CF stuff on my Super. Basically plug&play. I do need more porn games, how can I edit superdeadite's CF image?

Cuz you're from Chicago and I hate you.

Jk, you're right. I'm a dick. I'm sorry. You can use this next time you see me:

is that an SC-55mkII? I got the same MIDI module. You should try to find a CM300 someday too!

Try the v4 image:
http://nfggames.com/x68000/Games/X68000V4.zip

It's got metal orange on it. The valis 2 cutscenes are ever so slightly Pervy as well.

@opethian: yes that's exactly what it is. Apparently it's actually a later model but it emulates the sc-55 pretty flawlessly.

It's cool because the levels display works like a dream cast vmu in some games. The individual lcd dots will arrange and spell out the name of the game. Pretty cool stuff!

Does the cm3000 sound significantly different?

One thing I want to get is a cyber stick. I hear star luster and the sega arcade games like thunder blade, etc are amazing with it.

have fun, the time and money spent are worth it for the unique gaming experience. The amount of doujin shooters is insane.
