I recently got a hold of a 4 slot neo cab.
The machine is fine, but the games boot to a crosshatch pattern.
I've disassembled the board, and see no bad traces.
Additionally, the system had apparently had a battery mod done to it for some time, albeit poorly.

When I had this problem, it helped to install a UniBIOS and check out the cart in its memory viewer.

Silly question, but have you tried cleaning the slots of the MVS as well as the carts?

Regards.

Exact same problem here. Although, I'm not sure if the traces are bad. My 2 slot doesn't look as rough as this crosshatched 4 slot as far as the traces go:

I assume these are visually bad traces? Need a multi-meter and Uni-Bios. This hobby is getting expensive. HA!

Okay, I've really thoroughly cleaned this thing now.
Now I can get games to boot, but slots 1 and 2 have no audio.
I'm also noticing some color bleed on the red video
