My wife and I just sat down and played through Metal Slug 3 for the first time. Pretty ridiculous Final Mission.

Playing with DIP 7 on
Soft Dip Difficult level 4
2 player

Would have cost us $30.25 from initial coin drops to End Credits.

How many credits do you need for your favorite games?

Fair enough. I usually go by a three continue limit but last night I decided to toss that out the window and just free play though to credit roll. Cost me $4.50 to run through MS1 solo today.

Certainly possible if you devote your life to it... well, play that game and only that game for a month and you might come close.

I needed 20 or so credits last time I finished slug 3 and Im not proud about that. About the time I get to the space ship part and parts after that are where I lost almost all of them, until that point I had only spent 3 credits.

So, uh... with my coin mechanism it would have cost me 4 euros. If it had the original coin mech then I guess 2000 yen :)

I can't get my wife to play metal slug with me, occasionally bust a move but not metal slug... Hmm I wonder though I'll see how many quarters and get back

oh and seeing as you get 4 credits on AES, you ought to finish any neo game with 4 coins or less if you like the game and like to call yourself any good with it. I suppose you can consider the game aes finished if you do. and you can consider yourself really good if you complete with 1 credit.

My wife thoroughly enjoys B-A-M and Magical Drop. Once she saw the Zombie Metal Slug level she was really excited to play some M.S.

Ok, I don't mean any huge disrespect, but 121 credits to complete Slug 3? I know Slug 3 is an endless bitch, but 121 credits? Man.

Start with Slug 1. 23 credits on 1 player? This should be under 10 easy, I will be honest and say that I've never actually completed it in just one credit, but I have gotten to the final boss on 1 credit, so my best is 2.

You need some slug practice friend.

That's between two players (me and my wife combined) on our first try playing it. Ever. This was my wife's first exposure to MS.

First off, thanks to the project page on hardmvs.com... I wouldn't have been able to finish a playthrough of MS3 this afternoon if it weren't for the pause switch I installed. It took me 48 credits, $12 to complete. So I too need some metal slug practice.

Damn, you guys make me feel good about my MS3 skillz. I thought me taking 37 credits was super bad. I guys I'm not bad at all.

You know what's really fun? Playing MS3 then playing the MS6 MVS hack, you'll shit yourself at how fast you go through that game.

Last time I played solo it took about 15 credits for Slug 3. I can 1CC 1 & 4, but I don't see even trying for anything to come out of 3. TeddyKGB and I used up my last credits at GameCenter and 2 player Slug 3 eats up way more quarters than solo. I think we spent 68 credits between the two of us.

Then again this was after several hours of playing other Neo games and being full on burgers and donuts.

I have started doing this. I generally play in AES and US mode on my 2 slot and to help me not sit there for hours or untill I beat the game I have started doing 1 credit then I am done. Helps keep high scores honest and makes me better when I find a machine in the wild and the wife only give me a quarter. Now she is getting pissed cause what used to be maybe 2 mins of game play is now upwards of 10 mins and higher lol

I can 1CC metal slug 1, but 3 is ridiculous. that final stage is just quarter-munching heaven.
