Anyone own this? I've never played it but it looks awesome. The soundtrack in particular is amazing. Wish I could pick it up for less than the $200-odd it goes for :/

I own a repro cart I bought for $15, and yes it is outstanding.

I have it, definitely didn't pay what it's going for these days though. One of my faves on the MD, but if you're going to spend that kind of money, may be better off just getting a mega everdrive.

I have the mega drive cart. It's a great title if you like Thunder Force style horis.

I paid $90 for it years ago, but if I didn't buy it then i'd spend the $200 it goes for today.

Gley Lancer is great but Thunder Force IV is where it's at. TFIV musics... omfg.

Awesome game. Expensive but pretty much worth it.

Amazing game, might be my favorite horizontal shooter on the Genesis. Picked up a repro a few years ago, and it's been in heavy rotation ever since.

I stupidly sold a loose copy of this for 30 bucks. But like Wataru points out, 9 bucks on the Wii is a deal.

I'd rather get an Everdrive than a repro however. If you're dealing with a non-authentic version, it might as well be one that holds a crap load of other games as well.

Great game, I think the music is far better than in TFIV. Possibly on a par with the incredible TF3.

There's no good reason why this didn't make it out of Japan when so many mediocre shooters did.

Bought a mint copy from here years ago at very reasonable price. It's one of top shooters on Mega Drive.

Truthfully brotha, get a repro or an Everdrive, this game and eliminate down are stupid price.

I hear ya man, but I'm only a handful away from completing my Genesis shmup collection. And I already spent $150 or so on a minty MUSHA... ;)

Eliminate Down is even more expensive and doesn't look half as good so I'll bide my time on that one.

I have to agree with the general consensus and say Gley Lancer is one of the finest shooters on the Mega Drive. I bought my copy a few years ago and hadn't realized the price had shot up so much. I've also been seeing a growing trend in repro carts on ebay for a lot of the hard to find 8/16 bit titles. With the option of an Everdrive or like device I don't understand they're popularity. I mean some people make custom Genesis themed art with manual but it's all fan made/borrowed art from the original and they're selling for $50-100 on ebay! Why have a shelf of fakes and pay out the nose when an Everdrive can house an entire collection for the price of a few repros? Oh well, to each their own I guess.

I'm with you here 100%. I find it very bizarre that repros appeal to a seemingly large group of people.

Most people into video games aren't going to pay $100 on a single game. But if you've already stepped into the "money ain't a thing" zone by not sweating over $100 for a single (fake) game, why not just spend the $200/$250 on the real deal.

The guy with the shelf holding $1,000 worth of repro mega drive carts could have at least half a wall of real carts with the same amount of money and a little patience.

Money is a thang for me... I am good with the Virtual console release running 240p over component and the Wii Neo Geo Stick... otherwise I would buy the original cart.... and MUSHA as well

I don't mind repros in general if they are priced correctly-- but everyone is right...why anyone pay $100 for a repro is beyond me. I've been waiting to pick up a copy of this and Alien Soldier.

They are some very cheap repros of this and other md games on Ebay. As little as £10. Paying more for bootlegs just doesn't make any sense imo. I got lucky and bought a bad condition original copy of Gleylancer on Ebay a few years ago for £20. Unfortunately the days of finding bargains on Ebay are pretty much gone. Everyone's a wise guy now with crazy high buy-it-nows. Blame can squarely be levelled at the new breed of stupid, rich collectors who have succeeded in ruining the retrogaming scene for others.

In a lot of cases you can find originals for around the same prices as bootlegs. I got a cart only original Alien Soldier for £15 a couple of months back.

Cheap copies:

Pointlessly expensive ones:

An original Gley Lancer sold on eBay for around $20 back in November/December but I forgot to bid. Around the same time, there was an AES Andro Dunos that went for around $75, and a View Point for $50 but that was a BIN.

The deals are few and far between but they are out there.
