I've recently got two horis - Progear and Gokujou Parodius. I'd recommend both these, especially Progear. Awesome game and fits your Cave board want in a way.

Gradius Gaiden and Gradius V. Both have a simultaneous 2 player mode in additional to being all around awesome games.

Anything great in the hori shmup arena that's been released recently? I downloaded the Sine Mora demo, and wasn't super into it. Resogun has been awesome though, great control, great music, and just fucking beautiful.

Zero Wing is my favorite but I'd hesitate calling it the best.

I will echo the sentiment regarding Progear. I have always thoroughly enjoyed it. I've come close, but still haven't cleared the first loop. I think as far as developers go though, Irem is my favorite when it come to the horizontal shoot them ups. The R-types and In the Hunt being some of my favorite shooters ever.

Been on a blazing star binge lately. That game has me hooked.

If you can find them, r type and the salamander series provide a ton of challenge and playability

In terms of console shooters:
R-Type Delta is still my favorite as it still looks and plays amazing even after all these years..
R-Type 3 (SNES) is a close second.

lords of thunder. nothing else compares. its the only game i really miss since ditching the turbo duo.

Lords of Thunder never clicked with me.. not sure why..

It's one of the first games I'll load up after I RGB mod my PC-Engine Duo-R though..
