FS/FT: Custom Built Consolized Gameboy Advance (AKA the GBTV or CGBA)

So I'm selling a Gameboy Advance unit I modified to play on the TV.

So inside this unit is a Gameboy Advanced Unit. It then sends its signals over hard wire, not a silly clamp on kit, to a decoder board what outputs RGB, S video, and Composite video.

For the controls I simply wired up a controller port much like one would when consoling a MVS, to a SNES controller for controls.

The unit then outputs stereo sound for better sound than the GBA originally did.

I have reputation as a seller on Nintendo Age under the same username of Cross. I also have a website as an experienced engineer that shows my most photo pretty mods, for reference to my past work. It's pretty plain, just click on the tabs to see projects.

It has two modes of play. Centered screen which is the same 1:1 ratio as a GBA.

Or Widescreen because, its always better for the cinema. The two modes are selected by flipping a switch on the back of the unit, and the picture mode can be changed mid gameplay.

    Heres what it does:
    -It outputs Composite and S-Video
    -Has stereo Sound
-Uses an SNES controller for gameplay
-Plays any Gameboy Game ever (Even fan made)
-Works with any GBA Peripheral ever (Stupid ones like magnifying glasses don't count)
-Outputs better video than Nintendo over the same video lines (AKA my S-Video is better than theirs in quality) (I can link to a customer review for this)
    -Have lagless game play
-Uses 100% official Nintendo hardward for 100% compatibility

    What it doesn't do:
-Emulate Gameboy Gameplay (Stressing that its not some chinese clone system)

    What you get:
    -The System
    -Controller
    -Power Supply

    What You Don't Get:
    -Fancy box
-Fancy instruction manual (Super straight forward)

I'm asking $225 shipped for this unit. If the front of the unit really bothers you I can add a faux aluminum or textured carbon fiber finish for $11 extra.

I can reduce price if you are willing to do a partial or full trade with the following games. I need the cash more, but I can't pass up the chance on some good games.

    Windjammers (Big on my list)
    Strikers 1945
    Viewpoint
    Blazing Star
    Sonic Wings
    Nam 1975
    Super Dodgeball
    Last Resort
    Mutation Nation
    Magician Lord
    Ninja Commando
    Nightmare in the Dark
    Neo Bomberman
    Neo Mr. Do
    Diggerman
    Robo Army
    8 Man
Metal slug games after the second one
    Baseball Stars
    Super Dodgeball
    and King of monsters Series

    Thanks for looking!

I actually did this once, I didn't think there was that big a demand for it. I was not cheap due to the cost of materials and rarity of some parts. I can look into it again though. I remember charging $700ish in parts alone, that was 4 years ago and it may be way cheaper or more expensive now.

It doesnt need to be fancy. But you can make a waiting list to see how much interest there is a certain price range.

In shorthand it just means, "How the hell do parts cost you anywhere near $700 to make something like this?".

Oh haha, there was some special NGPC to dreamcast cable the buyer paid outrageously for. That with him wanting all connections be gold plated and the case CNC cut it adds up quickly.

I also keep all recipes so everything is on the up and up

I'd also be interested in an NGPC one as long as it doesn't cost as much as my last car.

I concur on the NGPC sentiment. Don't need any crazy to DC connections or anything, just make it work with some good console controllers and its all set.

Ill look into it. This was an incredibly hard build that took way too long to program for and I'm not keen on doing it again. It will be a few mints before I finish all my other projects and will probably take another 6 to engineer this thing. But once that is all said and done, would you say a price point of $316 is doable?

I'm trying to remember, but back then without the fancy junk I think that was the cost, with shipping.

I always wished someone would do this for the Game Gear. That old screen is awful.

Consolizing a Game Gear is a pretty common project, the instructions are out there.

Maybe I'm missing something but cant you get a GBA player and gamecube for under $50 total? What does this do differently? Also supossedly the Retron 5 is coming out that has GBA support with HDMI output for only $100. Cool project though man sorry I don't mean to thread crap, just curious.

If this was a real product I'd be all over it. Seriously, someone make one of these and take my money!

Free bump for a neat little GBA unit. If I didn't have a Gamecube with GB Player and a component cable I'd be all over this.
