Black Sails was produced by Michael Bay, and it is superb.

Bay's movies are very entertaining to me. Still pissed at how he fucked up Transformers 4 but otherwise I enjoy his stuff. The Island was slightly disappointing though at the time. I've not re-watched that one yet to see if it's not so bad now.

If we're including M Bay productions, then add Con Air to the short list of worthwhile stuff.

Thing about Bay is that the whole thing is lit the 3 hours it lasts. At no point are his films good but they could be entertaining if they didn't last forever. There is no sense of pacing, just one long sequence that doesn't end ever, just impales you through the brain leaving you reeling.

I miss you more then Michael Bay missed the mark
    When he made Pearl Harbor
I miss you more than that movie missed the point
And that's an awful lot girl
And now, now you've gone away
And all I'm trying to say is
Pearl Harbor sucked, and I miss you

I need u like Ben Affleck needs acting school
He was terrible in that film
I need u like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part
He's way better than Ben Affleck
And now all I can think about is your smile
    and that shitty movie too
Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you

Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?
    I guess Pearl Harbor sucked
Just a little bit more than I miss you

Eh, I liked the first Transformers alright for what it was.

Granted, I just go see movies for fun, so I guess if that makes me vapid, whatever.

I still like Pain and Gain. Somewhat restrained for a Bay movie, and dark as hell. I'll always love Dwayne Johnson's "If you touch her I will fuck you up" at the neighborhood watch meeting.

Having watched all 5 Transformers movies in either 15/70 IMAX or 8K Laser IMAX on a 60' x 80' screen, yeah it's 4 that I'm pissed about. Not even watching 4 like that could save that fucking turd. How you fuck up the Dinobots that bad is beyond me. And the fucking China pandering was a bit... excessive.

Transformers 5 in that sweet 8K laser 3D IMAX was the most fucking spectacular movie going experience I've had yet. Unfortunately it was about the middle of the pack for the Transformers movies as far as the movie itself. But holy shit was that an amazing 3D experience. Bay makes some of the most excellent use of IMAX tech (Nolan being about the only other director properly utilizing IMAX tech), and T5 was above and beyond any other 3D presentation I've seen yet. And I've seen damn near erry 3D movie released this century. It honestly felt like you were there experiencing it and not watching it on a screen.

Bay does an excellent job at what he does. His shit isn't gonna have the best stories or best acting. But damn if they're not a good time. Especially when watched on a fucking huge screen.

Not to mention he's got 2 movies that have Criterion Edition releases (The Rock & Armageddon). And the Criterion cut of Armageddon is one of my most played DVD's. Love that version.

Actually I liked the 2 TMNT movies. I just had to tell myself they aren't supposed to be exactly like anything else because every other TMNT product isn't either and it was always ment for kids unless you're talking about the mirage comics. The 1st movie had serious flaws, but it was still a good popcorn flick.

I especially thought they did a good job on the 2nd. They made the Shredder a sort of side character and Bebop and Rocksteady fit the vibe of the original cartoon quite nicely all things considered. Krang was about right as well.

McDonald's does an excellent job at what they do. Their shit isn't gonna have the best ingredients or best quality. But damn if they're not a good time. Especially when eaten at a high end location.

Not to mention they've got 1 item on the Dollar Menu that is a McCafe release (The coffee). The McCafe version of that coffee is one of my most consumed high production coffee products. Love that version.

    See how well that works?

Yeah, The Rock and Pain & Gain are fun dumb action movies. I'll fast-forward thru Bad Boys again if it shows up on Netflix.

But yeah, the rest are either insultingly stupid or just complete trainwrecks.

Bay made the jump somewhere along the line from fun mindless entertainment to just mindless and not entertaining. Or maybe I got old.
I don't care to spend too much time thinking about it though. My guess maybe around the 2000's.
When's Bad Boys 8 coming out?

The Rock was good for its time, hasnt aged all that well though.

I don’t love Michael Bay, but I don’t hate him. I think he produces fun movies; TMNT and all the horror classic remakes.
