Hi all - Name's Sal and I've been a huge Neo-Geo fan since launch. As a kid, like most of you, I've always dreamed of owning a Big Red one day.. Well, on December 2012 I found my pride and joy on Craigslist for $200 and restored it for less than that amount.

I've started collecting MVS carts since I've owned the cab (a few months ago) and I've managed to get the games I love the most. Many of them are lower 3 digit serials and all have almost mint labels w/serials intact. I also started collecting PGM 1 & 2 and am a proud owner of Spectral Vs Generation IGS cart (I was VERY lucky to get my hands on it). As you can see in the pics, I ran out of space for my carts and other NG collectibles and will be adding another shelf (possibly a glass encased display case).

I've posted a few pics of the restoration - lucky for me, the front bottom of the cab where serial is located was in amazing condition so i only needed to bond-o and paint the sides (Original decal Art will be applied in a few weeks) I've done a Sanwa Denshi joysticks w/Octagonal upgrade along with Universe chip Upgrade and a customblack diamond kick-plate.

I have to thank all you you along with the boys over at NG4L - I've learned a lot on these forums and met some pretty awesome people.

(Please excuse the shitty camera phone pics)

Very nice. Always good to see a big red fix and restored. Where did you get those stools & kick plate? I have been looking for some new chairs and those look nice.

Thanks bro, Kick-plate was from a website out in Texas I stumbled on and they do all kind of custom work.
I can look for it and let you know. Stools are from bed Bath and Beyond - Get yourself a few 20% off coupons and you're golden.
I think I got them for about $45 each after discount. (Pro-tip: go to the website, sign up on two different emails and you can print out 2 coupons for 20% off per each item)

Now that's a job well done! It will look perfect after the decals.

Envy about those PGM carts

Congrats.

Very nice Big Red and MVS collection you have there!

I myself am looking to pick up a 4 slot Big Red when the time is right this year. Doubt I'll find that kind of deal though.

How is the sound on the Big Red with the speakers on the underneath?

Thanks! The sound is pretty danm good, I have to admit. IMHO this is the best spot for them because its coming straight to you VS the last Gen one that points straight overhead. This said, i still wish I had the last gen cab, it's so sexy..

So that's where all of the MVS carts have been going lately. :lolz:

Nice collection, and good job on the restoration work. As others have stated, the kickplate looks awesome.

Thanks fellas - the resto was a lot of fun and the JLW Sanwa sticks with Octagonal gate upgrade is so is perfect for an American cab. Reason being is because there's no need to modify your control panel joystick slot and they fit like a glove like the standard US sticks (JLF's need modification or make custom brackets with electrical knockout box covers) Very easy to pull off specials on all fighters from SS to MOTW. Susan with Paradise Arcade helped me a lot with my decision - much love to her:)

Thanks for the heads up on the sound. Now I will have determine if I want the preferred Sunday or the sexier look of the later Big Red. Tough decision to be made!

Anytime man ;)
If you can find the last Gen cab, get it in a heartbeat.
It just looks that much better - but, it will be more work to restore so keep that in mind.

Check Craigslist on a regular basis, you can find a NG cab between $200-$500 but make sure you test the monitor or else it will cost you $300-$500 more and that's not worth it IMO.

Glorious cab restoration Salvio. Miss seeing big reds. Gotta dig the bar stools and overall setup as well!
