I remember you were telling me you had broken the swing arm on yours before, I have great luck with mine , I have beat the tar out of this thing in the past with very few problems , even folded a rear rim while riding at Mohab, Utah.

I about broke my ass at the same time . lol

I love this bike , but havent really ridden it much in the last year or so. Its funny because I really wanted to take it out today { a few of my friends went this morning , of course they had to call and rub it in afterwards } but I just cant ride it without pain these days , as soon as I get that straightened out Im gonna abuse it some more ! lol

If its easy enough to do and someone really doesnt want to do it on their own , Im sure we could work something out ?
If I was to do something of this nature for the members here I will keep the cost very low , since I would rather help members here rather than just take their cash.

We will see how mine goes first before I get into all that stuff , Im really sort of hopeing the LED thing works out , that way we could all have decently lit screens without having to drop the cash on an afterburner.

If if it works out even half as good I will be pretty happy since it probably wont cost more than $2.00 in materials and all I really want from mine is something I can play in low light or no light , it doesnt need to be a flashlight like the GBA's with the afterburner.

as soon as I get it finished I will stick some pics up with it running , I wasnt able to get the LED's today , the place I went to today didnt have the kind I want to use , I want to use the projected type so I get an even amount of light all the way across the back of the screen, I will be going after them tomorrow.

I will also take a short movie of it in action so I can Instant message it to anyone who wants it.

so if all goes well tomorrow night I will have a backlit NGPC for you guys to check out.

I will let you guys know the status tomorrow afternoon.

Wow... that was a beautiful staement.

I look forward to all the info you'll be putting up. I'm not that great with a soldering iron and wires as I'd like to be, but in this case I'm up for the challenge.

But if you think you cna do it, and you know where to get all the parts, I'd gladly send my NGPC and pay for parts and labor...

Strike two ! ok so the really good electronics store , also the only one besides radio crap , didnt have one clear LED in the store ! ehhhh

Of course they had every other color LED there is in the world , dude said he would order some and they wouldnt be in till next week , I guess I will pass by radio crap in the morning and see what they have and be badgered for alll my info if I buy something.

I always tell them they arent getting any info from me and they cop an attitude like its the law that I tell them ! Pricks ! Just another form of spam if you ask me.

If I cant get anything decent there I will cruise ro san jose and find what I want , I was just avoiding the hour drive if I could.

Update tomorrow.

Thats cool, I also would be willing to pay some extra cash for all the trouble if this goes in development succesfully. Wish you the best of luck with making a back lite NGPC.

nothing new , I had shoulder surgery last week and havent really gone out much and have just been sort of medicated since.

I did try to get the leds I had a guy order for me at a local place about a week and a half ago { 15 miles away } and of course they hadnt come in yet.

I need to call him and see if they came in ?

sorry guys I have been lagging , I need to get this done , hell I almost stepped on my ngpc yesterday in the mess that has became my room.

My friend got his afterburner kit but hasnt put it in yet.
I have made some progress on mine but I still have a few things to do before its done.

I still dont have the LED's I want for it , but I did experiment with a couple of green ones I dug out of my closet, I need brighter white LED's since you need to use a frosted piece of plastic as a diffuser in front of the LED's or the light looks like bright dots on 2 parts of the screen.

This is how the ATARI LYNX is done , except they use a very small cold cathode ray tube in them.

In fact I borrowed the diffuser from a dead fisrt generation LYNX, so I am going to try to hunt down some plastic that is similar to what the LYNX uses.

So that where I am , sorry to you guys for lagging on this , but its starting to shape up.

I will keep you guys posted on the status and try to put a step by step guide for you guys after I get the kinks all worked out.

Im also going to see if I can put a potentiomiter on it some where for brightness.

I would like to try and do that somehow without hacking the case up if I can.

Hmm.. This whole thing sounds very interesting. I've got a dead sega game gear, I wonder if I could recycle that lite... <img src="graemlins/spock.gif" border="0" alt="[Spock]" />

Say...

If one were to wire the LED up to the lithium 3v battery, i don't think finding the solder points is a very hard thing to do...

i have right here a fried NGPC PCB, and theoretically, wouldn't one just need to connect the LED to both of the points on the Lithium battery connector?

You could also add a switch...

the diffuser is another issue, but that aside, i don't know how much is really mystery.

Maybe i'm missing something, but it seems pretty simple.

unless of course, you're not using the lithium battery to power it.

edit: changed "battery?" to "battery connector?"

I would very much like some more info on this, an internal light for the ngpc would just be amazing.
