This list is intended to help pinpoint which hardware revisions were produced in which spans of serial numbers. It'd also be cool to see who the lowest and highest serials. Maybe somebody has a 1k or lower system. Or perhaps, there's some 300k Neo Geos around here.

Information Needed

1) Serial (printed on the sticker underneath the console)
2) Revision (you have to open your Neo Geo to find out, it's silk-screened onto the PCB)
3) Voltage (just look at your power supply to find out)

The List

Code:
Serial --- Revision --- Volts --- Owner

005174 --- AES --- 5v --- JMKurtz
006688 --- AES --- 5v --- JMKurtz

That's okay, even serials are nice to have.

I added another Neo Geo of my own, I'll add it's revision once I open it.

Ugh, I feel like a moron now.

But, the serials aren't in a nice tidy list in the first post. That's what I was gonna do here.

It's pointless anyway. There's a lot of recases where other revisions were put into other cases due to damage and whatnot. Best way is to still look inside the cart slot to the right.

I've tried doing that, it's near impossible to see the revision clearly.

Those re-cases are mostly exceptions to the rule though, right? Early revisions are typically found with lower serials, and later revisions are usually found with higher serials. JM Kurtz list seems to reflect that. There's a few odd exceptions, but it's a pretty consistent scale otherwise. The 3-6 looks like a very common revision among the serial list.

While you're here Xian Xi, are there only these AES revisions?

NEO-AES (with daughterboard)
NEO-AES (without)
NEO-AES3-3
NEO-AES3-4
NEO-AES3-5
NEO-AES3-6

Or are there others?

Ok, thanks, I didn't know that. Quite a few revisions actually.

I'm still in the middle of adding all the serials in the older thread...

Is the shell the same?

Same but with Korean writing.

The Korean model has a 3-6 motherboard inside. I've had a few over the years.

That's rather disappointing, but not surprising. Did you take any pictures of the Korean AES? Inside and out?

I did and I will have to take a look for the images. The system is exactly the same to that of any 3-6 system but with the added korean letters on the case.

Pictures would still be cool, even if the Korean AES is not much more than an example of how cheap SNK could be at times. Actually, all the time is more like it.

Why should they make a whole other system for Korea? They didnt for the rest of the world!! Id be suprised if the mobo wasnt made in Korea like some of the MVS cart boards were.

Because Korea is inferior to Japan. :p Nah just kidding. I figured if Korean systems were produced late, SNK might have used that as an excuse to make a more cost reduced Neo Geo revision. I guess 3-6 was fine as is.
