here is bonnie and clyde. approx 5 week old siblings. lab/cattle dog muttleys (supposedly). came from a kill shelter in KY.

we are working with a rescue. should be adoptable in another 4-6 weeks (if you are looking for a pup in/ near chicagoland).

just sayin'.

clyde (the spotted one) was adopted today. Bonnie is still adoptable. They were fixed yesterday and are up to date for a year on their shots.

But good on you for keeping those pups alive!

You and your wife are awesome people. As for your other dogs, in time they should get used to the change and grow to love their new housemates.

Man they're cute!

nice thing you are doing buddy, they are adorable. at least they aren't cats, my wife had 2 cats, I had 2 cats, we get married it turns into 4, that was 9 years ago, and these fuckers still fight EVERY GODDAMN DAY.

edit: the bagels really like the cats, especially when they throw up :lolz: otherwise, they don't give a shit about them.

Cute and good luck. I say that cause I've seen a buddy go through the same situation except his wife started getting attached to the pups and now he has four dogs, three lizards, an aquarium and a bunny. Everything but one dog came from "temporary" fostering.

That's really cool. Glad my wife doesn't frequent the forums, wouldn't want to give her any ideas. Last thing I need is more dogs running loose around the house. Her aunt fosters cats, I think she's up to forty, no joke.

I think the fostering system is a scam. How many dogs get placed?
My gf has tried to use this tactic to get us a dog. It aint happening.

older dogs are admittedly much harder to place. puppies tend to go super fast. these guys should be gone by october.

2 of my 3 dogs (the ones that live here normally) were rescues from foster situations. one was a year and a half old the other was a puppy.
honestly- puppies are easy to place especially for a family that wants a dog and doesn't want to pay 'purebread' prices. when in foster care it helps socialize them and gets them started on their training.

for example- the dogs that i have trained myself (for me, my family, and a few friends) all get a buzz word to go to the bathroom. I usually use "Andiamo" (lets go) so they dont get confused with everyday speech. People who adopt animals, especially puppies, like to know that some of the training and work is done for you.

as far as it being a scam- i am very much pro rescue (as i said- 2 of my 3 dogs are from rescues). there are too many dogs out there that need homes. there are huge networks of rescues in this country and they place thousands of animals a year. they do good work. yes some people fall in love with their foster pets and end up keeping them, but mostly they go to good homes. It is actually harder to get a dog from a rescue than it is from a pet store or a lot of breeders- because rescues tend to do background checks and in home inspections before allowing you to adopt. Rescues want to know that an animal that had a questionable past will end up in a better situation where it will spend the rest of its days. Lastly- the rescues get the pets spayed and neutered. They even pay for vet visits and inoculations. The prep work that goes into getting a dog into a home is huge.

I have never understood people who like to buy dogs,
usually (I'm no expert, of course) but street dogs rescued from
a bad time tend to get extremely grateful and are fairly
well behaved. At least in my experience so far, 5/5 dogs
I have had, I adopted them right from the streets.

I think it's an awesome thing you are doing :D
congratulations on such a nice good deed.

Bonnie and Clyde are officially adoptable now!

housebreaking is at like 85% there now.
