Got my MVS package a few days ago. So damn exciting. I rarely play MVS anymore, but JMKurtz did me a solid favor over a decade ago. He fixed my AES and made me a new AC adapter back when I was poor. I felt like i needed to get this regardless of the content.

Sure, I'll make the change this evening...

EDIT:

OK Meg counts are fixed, and all inserts have the NeoBitz Logo (no SNK)

Subtle change that logo swap, but I dig it. ;)

I feel the same way. I bombarded Jeff with emails several yrs back when I was new to the scene and he's always been gracious and happy to help. Can't wait for that homecart preorder to start.

King of the Monsters gets stuck in compulsion when it's in Free Play, so it's actually a lot worse. It will sit on the start screen in 30 second countdown, then drop into a game, rinse-repeat.

This sounds like a different problem. When my cart gets here I'll run it through some combos in a multi-slot. If it's playing the attract screen, at least, that's way more compatible than KotM in free play ;)

If it doesn't swap games at all, free play or not, then that's similar to the NG Dev titles. Most of them have trouble in multi cart configurations. I was actually wondering if anyone tried that yet. I'll run it through some combos when my cart gets here.

The cycling of a NG: DEV game in a multislot works well if you put a game with the GIGA POWER splash screen in the slot right before it (like MS5 for example).

My 4 slot's contacts are in need of severe cleaning and I can't post proper impressions until that happens (graphics and audio are glitchy as hell - I know its my system and not the game). Really love the look and feel so far though, and of course the package is top notch (I got the full kit, not CE, with the cardboard box and art pack).

OK, my cart came today...

So, being a Douglas Adam fan, I was stooked to see I was the lucky owner of the cart that answers all of life's questions, number 42, and the little touch of putting the serial number on the title screen of the game was so nice! Love it!

First off, everyone is right. This plays like a lost SNK title, more than an indie release. Fantastic presentation, and it's just so cool. Love it, Kurtz. You, and everyone involved, did a fantastic job.

Second, bummed about those high scores. I felt like I needed to cheat in order to get my name in ;) Making a hard BJ (cough) pay out at 10X does the trick, but double shame because that's the only way you see the credit roll, and you guys should take a bow and be seen.

In the future, I'd dial back on the high score requirements, mainly because if I'm playing with default settings, I won't even really play Mystic Dice that straight... Why bother? It would be much nicer to see my scores slowly creep up as I improve my strategy of play. Stick to something like 5th place being 100pts up to 1st being 500 or something and now we're playing against our high scores and not some hypothetical. ;)

Minor niggle, but something worth noting for future endeavors... God I hope there are future endeavors.

I did encounter a few minor bugs, as well:

1. Minor design bug: In free play mode, the game shows "Credits 00" instead of "Free Play."

2. Minor design bug: The credit indicator cannot be turned off, though that may have been by design. Personally, I always turn those off for NG games. Probably the main reason my candy has no burn in.

3. The game also doesn't honor Demo/Attract Sounds being turned off in the soft dip settings. That's nice for a setup like mine where I leave the Neo running all the time. Unfortunately I can't with Knight's Chance because, well... it makes a lot of noise. Very minor, and I may be the only person who cares... but hey... I care.

4. It's already been called out, but yes, it won't advance to other games in a multi-slot on its own, which kind of breaks it in a multi-setup. Again, no big deal. I can see this being setup when we're having a little get together with friends and leaving it running all night so no problem there. I can also see it being a huge hit at a get together.

Seriously, this is a wonderful game and I was having a blast with it. Mystic Dice is definitely my favorite of the four, but every game is fun and plays really well. I also tried it in both Japanese and English settings. So cool you got that in there. I love it.

I agree. Kurtz captured the SNK feel and put it in Knight's Chance. It truly does feel like a lost Neo game.

Why would you turn off the attract sound in this game? It's so bad ass sounding.

I leave the candy on all day... I could turn the sound down, but it's nice to have it quiet when not being played, and a good volume for game time.

Minor complaint. I don't know how many people leave their machines running all day, and a lot of people are playing this in a cmvs, so it probably doesn't matter, but if I'm playing, I'll leave the candy on... Or if people are over it will be left on to show off the game and entice someone to sit down and play some Knights Chance... Which shouldn't be hard to do.

While we are on the topic of suggestions. I play way too much blackjack for own good so there a few suggestions I like to make.

1. Double down after split would be nice as well as multiple splits.
2. In the case of dealer blackjack showing a 10, the hand should end immediately with a player loss or a push in case of player blackjack.
3. Even money should be offered when dealer is showing Ace with player blackjack.
4. The usual casino 3:2 payout for blackjack should be offered in addition to the 1:1: and 2:1 payouts built in.
5. Insurance should be offered then the dealer hand should be evaluated for blackjack if the player declines.
6. Money should also be taken away at the time of bet like in poker so it's easier to gauge if there is enough funds for a double or split.

Those are just minor things that would enhance the game play. Like I said, I play way too much blackjack for my own good. I am thoroughly enjoying the game as whole especially the dice game.

Man, all this positive feedback I'm reading has me getting hype. Might bite on the AES release if it happens, kudos Jeff!

These are games based on other games so that is why the rules aren't exact.

The presentation is TOP-NOTCH! As other posters said, it really feels like a long-lost title! Getting one of the kits is tempting but I'd rather go for a mvs cart+shockbox deal. I shoulda jumped in earlier when the mvs only deal was available! damn!

My SE kit arrived this morning!

As others have already stated the packaging is top notch and completely professional.

I'll be keen to give it a go when I get home from work.

Well done Jeff!

I'm with you on this, reading through this thread almost has me missing MVS. Would love to see a home cart release.

Picked-up my CE Kit from post today. All the packaging and promo materials are top-notch. Even the shipping box has a little neobitz sticker indicating serial (so you might want to save)! I got home and played the game for about an hour, which went by fast. I'm not a gambling guy at all, but this title is a welcome break from all other neo titles like fighters and shooters.

Well done Jeff!!

Egads, that's a lot for one cart and the non-kit edition is sold out. Looks like a neat game though.

For those who play Mystic Dice, a small tip is to keep as many dice in play as possible. For example if you get 1 1 3 4 5 6, just keep a single 1 and then reroll. Only take multiple 1s if they are 3 of a kind or lead you to a bonus turn. That way when you reroll you have a higher chance of getting triples and quads. Same with the 5s.

Only 12k, could have been higher if I didn't mess up my last hand. I was shooting for 16k and had 12k already banked and then had 3k in play and then on my next bonus turn I got crap with all 6 dice.

"Only"

Keeping dice in play certainly improves the odds. Especially loose fives.

(Have yet to crack the 10k barrier)
