What games have you 1CCed. Most of us that played NES when we were kids managed to beat the hell out of a few games. We played the bejesus out of them 'cause we had no other game or 'cause we just liked the game that much. I've been playing NES games lately and have rekindled myself with a few of my favorite games, now I'm doing what I can to 1CC these games, here's what I've got so far since my NES return.

Batman
Gunsmoke
Ninja Gaiden III US
Kabuki Quantum Fighter
Castlevania

Currently working on a G.I. Joe (Taxan) 1CC

The following I can still 1CC:

Contra (no hit).
Ninja Gaiden
Blaster Master
Super Mario Bros. (no hit during speedrun, no hit total completion)
Renegade
TMNT: The Arcade Game

I used to be able to complete Wizards and Warriors in one sitting. The same went for River City Ransom, but I don't have the time to sit and actually play those that require level build up anymore at once.

I used to be much better as a kid. Not counting things that take too long in one sitting (Castlevania II, SMB3, etc), I was able to 1CC:

RoboCop 2
Double Dragon II
TMNT II: The Arcade Game
Godzilla
Contra
Super Contra
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers
Duck Tales (maybe, I think I did but memory fuzzy)
Wrath of Black Manta
Kabuki Quantum Fighter
Vice Project Doom
Solstice

I didn't have many games back then, so I'd rent some at Blockbuster and get to a certain point before the 3-4 day window ran out. Some games just did not hold my attention to the point where I'd work on any kind of excellence with them. I just wanted to try and get to the end, no matter what. If I loved the game and it came naturally to my tastes, like most of the above, then the 1CC would just happen out of pure gaming pleasure.

Some games remain easy to this day, like the Contras and KQF. Others, like RoboCop 2, I wouldn't be able to make it out of the first couple of levels. I must have had a lot more patience as a kid, that's for sure.

In the past year:

Castlevania I, III
Double Dragon I, II, III
Contra (no code, 3 lives)
Ninja Gaiden
Mega Man I - VI
Ducktales
Kung Fu

Not gonna list games when I was a kid. If I'm stuck at a certain part of a game I practice that area with save states on emulator then go back and replay it from start on the hardware. Just saves time for me.

There were tons of NES games that you could earn repeated 1ups standing at one place and use those extra lives to blast through the rest of the game. Can't even remember how many I've rented and managed to 1cc in the 3 days allotted like that, never mind the actual titles.

I've done millions back in the day, but I'm kinda proud that I 1cc'd Contra and Super C recently without codes, I could never do that back in the day, and in Contra's case I wasn't sure it was possible without super powers. These days I think, compared to Metal Slug 3's last stage, it's nothing.

The power of yesterdays is a fond anecdote but the power of today is what defines us as NES warriors...

I can 1cc the first few Mega Man games, and do frequently. I'm slowly building a NES collection, so I'm going to see about building those NES skills back up.

DID SOMEONE SAY...
Double Dragon III? Pffff... how Technos could get that game so wrong is beyond me. Plus, it's brutal difficulty-wise. Credit alone for just completing that one, let alone 1cc it! I always used to get destroyed by the Mummy's @Egypt myself.

Double Dragon II is my fave NES game and also a game I consistently 1cc. On a good day, I'll *no miss* it (pal!), and if I don't manage it, it's usually due to 2 contributory factors:
1) Mansion of Terror - falling flames from torches whilst negating the disappearing platforms
2) The Danger Room - second room with rotating cogs and spikes. I think that pretty much explains that one

Otherwise, super-knee clean sweep to the face for all.

I'm sh*t at every other game on the NES though. Especially the flying galleon levels on SMB3. F*ck those cannons...

Yep, its not an easy game at all control wise and AI. For the mummies and Marion I am just super cheap with Ranzou.

The mummies are easy-just keep using dashing jump kicks. And remember to keep walking diagonally in the Marion battle to avoid getting hotfoot.

The only NES game I can remember beating in this manner was Silent Assault. It's a pretty generic shooter, and I can do it with no hits taken as well. I'm slowly building up a list of games beaten, and achievements sans Xbox so it would be cool to share stats with everyone. :)

I only had about a dozen NES games growing up, so a lot of these were done fairly recently within the past few years.

Contra
Super C
Ninja Gaiden 2
Castlevania
Castlevania 3
Gradius
Life Force
SMB
SMB 2
SMB 3 (takes like 4 hours . . . =P)
Power Blade
all the Megaman games
Rygar
Strider
Abadox
River City Ransom
Shadow of the Ninja

I don't know, it's hard to say. I've beat Zelda in a sitting but I would never call it a 1cc.

Life Force

Lies! That game is nearly impossible to legitimately beat. ;)

I'm pretty satisfied I beat Ninja Gaiden for the first time last night. Nowhere near a 1CC, but I did it!

So far, my 1CC list goes:

Gun.Smoke
Contra
Castlevania
Kung Fu
Double Dragon II

Can anyone out there beat Mach Rider or Bayou Billy? I haven't even come close in 20 years.

I just 1CC'ed Castlevania last night and then I lost all my lives on stage 24 (2nd loop). I almost flipped the counter back to zero, I've done it before but only 'cause I couldn't beat Death and I kept milking the cross to level it up and in the process gain some extre lives. My final score was 994200 Stage 24.

For Castlevania 1 I always thought the easiest way was to get a triple holy water and hang onto it. With that you can kill Death before he even moves or fires a single shot.

Easier said than done, brother. The holy water has to hit the exact spot and you have to not barrage it but instead keep the flame going. I much rather doing it with the cross, I don't even get touched sometimes and I can get mad combo multipiers. I've done it with the holy water but it's a 50/50 chance to make it work right, maybe when I get the hang of it better I might just keep that as my default strategy.

I actually just bought a NES the other day. Don't have any games yet but will be building a collection soon. Hopefully you see some new entries from me.

My G.I. Joe Taxan cart is glitching like crazy, I've cleaned it many times and still no luck. I'm gonna ahve to get me another, in the meantime I'm gonna work on Megaman II. My plan is to 1CC all the games I really loved as a kid, the ones I know the songs by heart, the ones I can still remember playing those late nights with very low volume being all stealthy so my parents wouldn't wake up and catch me playing at 2AM. I remember taking turns with my brother in Ninja Gaiden, I was really jonsing for him to die quick so I could play...good times.

Are you sure it's your cart? Or are your contacts going bad? Toaster or top loader?
