Great idea Takumaji. I second the vote to make this sticky. I don't think that the NGCD needs its own forum, but a sticky at the top of this one is an excellent idea wink

I for one would like to say thank you for this info! I know it is just use of the search engine, but you actaully went and did it for us who are interested in the system.

Thanks again

i, on the other hand, DO feel that the neo cd should have its own forum. i mean, why the hell not? the freekin' hyper ng64 has one, why can't the cd?

I defintily agree with the Hyper 64 point wink I just don't think that a CD only forum would get the traffic either. I also like the fact that the CD brings extra traffic into the 16 bit forum :D

P.S.-If we do get a CD forum I vote for Takumaji as a mod wink

i second that.

and what's this about traffic? like there are ads or something on these pages? i say, "shoot 'em all and let god sort 'em out." and by that i mean, set up a forum for each and every snk system, that way we can see where people's loyalties really lie.

this will also have the neat side efect of letting people know what they're getting into without accidently stumbling into the middle of a anti-neogeofreak rant while looking for some neo pocket info.

There are a lot of tech- and gaming-related NGCD questions at the mo, one in Tech and six of them on the first page of 16bit alone, so I decided to put them all together in this post for easier reference:

<a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=004806" target="_blank">NGCD specifics</a>

<a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=002570" target="_blank">Neo Geo CD any good?</a>

<a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=002545" target="_blank">Neo Geo CD or AES</a>

<a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=002546" target="_blank">Is SS4 CD as nice as SS3 CD?</a>

These are only the newer CD-related threads.

Perhaps we can post our questions/infos in here and make this thread sticky, that way we'd get a good ressource to link to in case ppl want to know a thing or two about the NGCD.

Some useful links:

I just wanted to add that LB2CD is great. Just take the demos off and all you have to endure is the 50 second load between matches. If like me, you sit in a chair that can swivel to a computer and a tv between matches, you are set.

They even had a live orchestra perform a couple of the musical pieces in the game. Most of the other tracks are mid quality synth, but they still sound better than on cart.

CD load times=bad for the impatient.
CD load times=great easy high quality neo library for those who can wait. Got a PC and gamepad? get an emu and run them through your pc with quick loads.

CD games. God love em.

Word to that. I have LB for my CDZ, now I'm going to have to track down LB2.

Well, thank you.

But given the outcome of the suggestion about opening a CD forum, I don't think it will happen.

Anyway, guess making this thread sticky is not too much to ask for.

Right now I'm updating my FAQ with a lot of questions that I missed to include, specially about buying and collecting, more tech stuff and a lot more pics. I also plan to re-work the old NGCD mod manual I submitted to nick_th_fury a while ago and put it back on my site for easier reference.

Yeah, the CD has a lot to offer to those who have learnt to wait! :)

I noticed that there's no info on installing a language switch on a CDZ. If anyone needs photos or instructions, I can help. Also, as far as I know, you still can't mod a front loading system.

Sure, go ahead, the more tech info the better!

AFAIK, there's no need to do a 50/60Hz mod on the front loader because it was only released in Japan with 60Hz-only. Language mods on a FL is another thing, to be honest I never tried it. Perhaps the thing is JPN-only due to the original release plans of SNK Japan. For US, Europe and any other regions, SNK released the top loader, of course with the usual language matrix (JPN/multi-language/US).

Just did a whois lookup, according to the data I got, the domain neogeocd.com expired on July 6th and hasn't been reactivated so far. Guess someone hasn't payed his hosting/domain fees...

Yes, it's just that I'm busy with our online mook project at the mo but don't worry, I'll stick to my words... I was half through with updating my faq when SonGohan posted his now famous KoF98 combo thread...! :D

Okay, to get things rolling I suggest I log into my web server right away and compile a zip archive with the content of ne-o-rama, then after I'm finished updating the faq I'll send the update to you as well. How's that?
