If you don't want to see all the nice images, I keep an HTML listing on one single text page: http://tanooki.byethost16.com/transformers.html

Try this site on for size:
http://www.shmax.com/tripredacus?c_sort_type=dateCollected&c_sort_dir=asc

You can also make cool signatures with it.

Interesting site. I might look into it. The thing is I try to keep things simple but sometimes I drag stuff out too. Those 10 new transformers I snapped up (was 9, found slugfest yesterday to go with my guns) I haven't added to the list yet because all the parts aren't in so far. When they are I'll do a bundle update. What I do is I update the HTML, but I also take a picture or two of a transformer in bot and in transformed mode as well along with any accessories or possible paper I have. If I ever find more paper or missing bits I re-do the pic and it all goes up on photobucket. It helps me keep it all organized. I do non-picture listings though for video games, manga (and other books), and also the few gobots and Ultraman spark dolls I have as well.

I used to be real into keeping my own lists. Then I tried making websites, then I realised someone already made that shit better than I had and switch to that. Its a bit of working putting your collection into a site but then after you're done that's it. Just put in new stuff, or manage your wantlist, or export to an Excel file. If you are really small collector and can remember everything, its probably not needed. But being able to check what you have quickly while out at a store or sale is a wallet saver.

I keep a spreadsheet, but it's just for my own benefit, to help me keep track of what I have (and how complete my toys are, accessories-wise), when I bought them, and how much I paid, I don't publish it online or anything.

I follow you on that. I use the old mozilla/netscape HTML maker that got rebirthed years ago as NVU. It's more a matter of me just popping in a few words and uploading through flashFXP to some space I have which is why I stick to it, well that and I don't have to trust some third party source staying accessible as I keep my files also for offline use and being a basic set of tables with a solitary background image to create a faux box of sorts, it's very fast loading.

I do this too on certain want lists or when I get a lot of stuff and need to sort it out and get things right. Up until last night I had a Lego lot google drive spreadsheet I was using, but finally the last parts came in from 2 lots I got a week apart, and built them and pop and dropped that data into my primary Lego set list. You can see that here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1U97AnNKaZTxtfgqRja5pTom1u-qpcJYfxgY-g3lob1Q/edit#gid=0

Other than that though I keep my stuff in that html that's in my signature. Yesterday was Lego, today I got the Transformers parts I needed all in yesterday too, so I need to take some pictures and update that HTML with this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iBt_v2Xg5EfHz2mfwnZcF9M7R2n3yucq07JQapvQ8AU/edit#gid=0

cheap trash for casuals

Funko have decimated the vinyl toy scene. More and more specialty stores are being forced by collectors with poor taste to increase Funko shelf space at the expense of art toy shelf space. To be fair the industry in general - outside of Funko - has definitely slumped since 2009 or so, but Funko has not helped matters and does not support artists. Resin will always be an approachable medium for artists, but the viablility of artists being able to produce and finance vinyl through a production company is much lower these days. And artists aren't going to drop $30k to self finance a production run in China. Hopefully this promos a resurgence in western artists using sofibi boutiques.

I got in pretty late to the designer vinyl game, but damn Pop's are the worst, I'll agree with you there in that it has taken away so much from individual artist designs in favor of mass licensing of any and all movie/tv/game franchises. It's just too much, everyone sells them and their quality is crap. I can see the mass appeal for the casual buyer/collector due to their lower price point and selection, but they're def not for me.

I do collect older series of kidrobot labbits and dunnys, and it is sad to see that their artist releases are slim to none these days.

Kidrobot definitely had a rough few years. You can read details about what happened in this article with their president: https://issuu.com/cluttermagazine/docs/clutter_magazine_issue37/20

They were bought by NECA a few years ago and are now banking record quarters with NECA only having a say in their licensed toy designs and production. It took them a while to ramp back up, but some of their artist-driven work has been amazing. Violet Soda Lady is one of their best 8" Dunnys ever and the Sketracha Dunny series was awesome. Same for J*RYU's 8" Dunny. I'm not a fan but a lot of people loved Scott Tolleson's dragon 8" Dunny. Nathan Jurevicius' Nightriders series was one of their best blindbox series as well. They're also doing a great job of bringing in newer artists by creating a 5" Dunny platform, which has so far gotten a release from Sekure D and will also be getting designs by Dolly Oblong and Twelvedot. To be fair, they've also released some duds - the Trikky blindbox series and their Yummy World stuff after it was bought from the original artist, for example. But overall, KR are on the upswing in terms of good designs, balancing original and licensed product lines, and running a small business.

So I have been looking at the Robotech toys lately thinking about getting into this. How does one know they are purchasing the real thing and not a knock off version.

That's just it Karou. When looking at them, most of them look very similar but the prices range from $60.00 to $400.00. I am assuming the higher amount toys are the real deal but just wanting someone whom knows Robotech toys to chime in. I know Stealthlurker has a ton of Robotech toys.

I haven't really seen any knockoffs yet that both look identical and have a defrauding (c) date on it. Take Transformers G1 for instance which I do. They reissued many of the G1 stuff over the last few years, but when they do, on a few maybe some translucent plastic coloring is slightly off, but normally you look for the copyright. It will have usually Takara, Hasbro (c)1985 for example, but the knockoff with that will add an added line that says China - 2015. It's not too hard, just need to have a point of reference.

I forgot this thread existed. Anyone interested in thumbing through to see what I've got? http://s232.photobucket.com/user/tanooki-suit/library/Tanookis Finds/Transformers?sort=9&page=1

Not in there yet as I got it a few hours ago, but I got a complete G1 Thundercracker for $30 (books 60 on ebay.) Recent pick ups have been a complete in box Metroplex, a complete/working undamaged Shockwave at a sick deal, all 3 insecticons Kickback-Bombshell-Shrapnel with their weapons and 2 w/manuals.

Non-TF stuff, I also like old Japanese robots from the 70s/80s most of it ended up with Shogun Warriors but also both US forms (GoLion/Dairugger) Voltron. I just got that Dangard with the wing(cracked/repaired wing) but with all his working shooting parts for a steal along with 2/3 of those insecticons yesterday in a bundle.

I cannot believe a company actually made a toy of the cyclops Space Harrier mastadon--if something that obscure can get made, literally anything can! And I agree that Simon Belmont statue is totally boss!
