What anime are you watching?

I used to watch Dirty Pair Flash on Showtime Beyond around 2002, 2003. I liked it back then I was a teenager and anime is cool when you're a teenager.

I'm watching it now and boy do I feel embarrassed. I liked the volleyball episode. But every other shot of the girls is like softcore porn, even with nips poking through shirts. Weird as hell that they're specified to be 17 years old.

I, I don't think I can do anime anymore, guys.

not familiar with Flash and only really know Dirty Pair from the american comics Adam Warren did back in the 90's that had a similar vibe to his current creator owned comic Empowered, I don't think they were 17 in that, and I find that to be very very weird seeing as they're essentially mercenaries who get into sexy misadventures, what the fuck were they thinking making them 17?! Also if that was soul crushing whatever you do don't check out Agent Aika, it's got excessive up skirt shots beyond the point of reason

I've been mostly watching Dragon Ball Super and My Hero Academia. I still need to catch up on the earlier arcs of Super. I lost interest in the first few episodes and then jumped back in around the Future Trunks/Goku Black/Zamasu arc. Still waiting for a JoJo Part 5 adaptation to be announced. I've been dabbling in a few other shows, but not much seems to really jump out at me anymore.

The first episode of Super reminded me what I loved so much about Dragon Ball, the next 20 or so episodes reminded me why I stopped watching it in the first place

I don't care how stupid Dragon Ball gets, I can't stop myself from watching.

If I can make it through the English dub of the Shadow Dragon Saga in GT, all the Super nonsense is cake. And I'm even watching Buu Saga Kai, and I fucking hate the Buu Saga.

It is but just for the ova the tv series will just be dvd for the boxset.

I saw that. The only good thing about the TV series is the OP/ED. Although I hope the DVD picture quality is better than the original U.S. Manga Corps release.

The only thing about that OVA that hasn't aged like fine wine are the few bit of CG they used. Are you watching the episodic version or the "movie" edition?

i'm watching the movie version. was there a difference between the two?. i always thought the movie was just all the episodes put in to one film kind of like stephen king's IT. and as for the cg, i thought it was alright. not bad enough to notice imo.

The episodic version has some extra stuff that got cut from the movie version but I don't remember exactly what. The movie version is great on its own though.

Here is what you do.

Just watch any Mobile Suit Gundam series set in the Universal Century.

It doesn't matter if it's old or new, although Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt is the absolute goods.

You'll feel better and know that despite what a wasteland of shite and pish the media mostly is, you will be amazed that a series can still walk the fine line between fantastic human storytelling and 30 minute commercial as well as Gundam does. Sunrise and Bandai still give the UC the respect it richly deserves.

yeah, it's one of my favourites from the era. and i think it's quite underrated actually. the animation, atmosphere and soundtrack is fantastic. although it's a part of the macross series of films, it's a great anime even as a stand alone movie.

RE: Macross

It would be nice if Harmony Gold either gave up the stranglehold they have on US distribution rights or at least loosened up the reigns.

They aren't doing anything significant with Robotech and they're never really going to. Tons of Macross fans want new releases of all the old stuff on BD and they're not going to get it so long as HG continues to gatekeep it the way they have been.

for me, macross is old franchise that pretty much ended around the mid 90's. but i would love for them to get back on the horse and give us new material that rivals the old stuff. but was it like 2011 when we got the last macross movie?. and they're average at best. would love to see a big budget macross movie every few years with some effort put into it.

Ditto. I think we ALL love their old stuff but even if that's the case, would HG keep the new stuff from getting to us?

Been watching Fist of the North Star, the plan is to watch all 152 episodes of the anime, then read the unadapted chapters on a scan site, and then check out the original film, the OVA and the film series, I think I'm on episode 8, so I've got a fuckton more to watch

Gaiz,

I just realized that there's a huge sale on Right Stuf. I just got like $300 worth of anime for $100. Here's what I got, all of it for at least half off, some of it for like 85% off:

Blame
Vampire Hunter D
New Dominion Tank Force
Casshern complete series
Space Adventure Cobra complete series
Gatchaman box sets 1 through 3

you're probably right. but i could only hope that if a new macross movie has the budget and effort put into it like macross plus had, harvest gold might think it's worth releasing it to the west.

i would also highly recommend legends of the dark king, a fist of the north star tv series which tells the story of rao the conqueror. this is by far my favourite thing related to fist of the north star and one of the most underrated anime of all time imo.

the animation isn't the best, but the story, action and characters by far make up for it. this series shows why he thinks he is the true fist of the north star and how he rises to power. roa is such a bad ass like i've never seen before. he is cruel and unforgiving, but his cold cruelty always has a purpose. he believes he needs to be cruel to put fear in those who cause fear.
a must watch for for every one i would say.

Mobile Suit Gundam F91
Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy

Been reading Sailor Moon manga, so I purchased the first Sailor Moon movie. About 40 minutes in, and enjoying it.
