Now I have been a huge PC Engine fan since the early days and still love the little white box and all the great shooters it has to offer. But I have always wanted to get a PC-FX for Choujin Heiki Zeroigar.

So my question is, has anyone got it, or properly played it, and is it worth the money required to invest in a single console for just one game (I know there maybe a couple of other games I could play without needing to read Japanese)

Please give me your thoughts on the game!

I couldn't name them, but I'm sure there are less than 5 non-Japnese-friendly games for PCFX. Personally, I might get that PCE/Duo/FX emulator which plays real disks. $150 for a single game is pretty steep even without paying for the system though.

You are right there are only 5 games worth getting on the system, and they are all quite pricey.

Battle Heat (Fighting)
Chip Chan Kick (Action)
Super God Trooper Zeroigar (Shooter)
Tengai Makyo Karakuri Kakutoden (Fighting)
Zenki: Vajura Fight (Action)

But I love my shooters and want to find out more about Zeroigar.
Anyone got it... Is it worth the cash?

It's actually quite a good game in my opinion, but a bit weird.
There are around 20 different sub-weapons you can use,
you have health bar, and you level up based entirely on score.
In Anime (Story) Mode, the subweapons you get are completely random,
and they randomly level up as you do.

Anime mode is long, and has nice cutscenes between every level, if you
like 70's style super robots, it's great.

Normal mode is much harder then anime mode, but you get 3 different
robot types, and a shop that let's you purchase and upgrade subweapons.
But the negative here is it's so hard that you end up playing the same
missions over and over until you're strong enough to play the next stage.

Either way, here's part 1 of my no-death anime mode run.

Oh if you like Bubble Bobble style games, it's worth owning a PC-FX just for
Chip Chan Kick. Legendary game.

I've got all of these. My favorite is Zenki by far. Check out the youtube videos. Not sure if it works on Magic-Engine or whatever other pc-engine emulators exist.

Zeroigar is "good". But I don't think it's really worth the price. I'd try it out first.

I looked at videos of all the games on youtube and all great but it is hard to feel the games properly from that.

I didn't want to emulate it, but I think for now I might have no other choice.
To complete the setup with those 5 games is going to set me back about £400-£500.
