Gabrius, nice to see another Gaiares fan. I actually aquired it this past Fall and it somehow made it to my #2 hori spot, haha of course these lists are always a reflection of what I've been currently playing.

Nice work with that shmups topic on GFs btw.

True! Gaiares was a great game but so difficult!
It has also nice anime atmosphere!

I'm admittedly not the biggest shooter, but these are some of my favorites. (still have lots of greats to try)
These just have a warm spot in my heart.

#1 Deathsmiles.
#2 Pulstar
#3 Sexy Parodius
#4 Gradius V
#5 Do Don Pachi Daioujou

I need to play Mushihime and Radiant Silvergun, they look like they're right up my alley.

very hard to narrow it down but here goes
1.blazing star- love this game so much. great graphics, especially with the 3d look to the spaceships and enemies. I have this game donloaded on my phone and I pad
2. battle garegga- a 1942 type shooter, the music in this game is incredible but not too many power ups to choose from. too bad the saturn version is pricy
3. blazing lazers-awesome game for the turbo, good music, nice visuals and good amount of power ups. number 1 played game on my express
4. bio hazard battle- an underrated game in my opinion worth checking out for the genesis. very fast paced
5. task force harrier ex- excellent graphics and good powerups. the voice clips in this game are very crisp. great shmup for the megadrive

Only 3 immediately come to mind as definite favorites.

1. Gradius V - Definitely my favorite shmup from my favorite shmup franchise.
2. Gradius IV - Pretty much neck and neck with V but I like V a little more from some reason.
3. Gunbird 2 - The characters, animation, voice work and dialogue are a lot of fun. The gameplay is both very interesting and challenging with character having a certain level of uniqueness rarely found in this genre. The stages, characters and enemy art is very well done and enemies and bullets are clear. Great game through and through.

After that i'd just be naming good shmups that I like and there's a lot of them.
