I have an almost pristine kof96 with a few weird things going on.

1. The label, although it looks identical to the us label on "mvs scans" is paper, but feels and looks totally original, but there is no serial.

2. Underneath the kof96 label is a label for Ragnagard

3. There are 4 "Super High Tech Game NEO GEO" silver foil stickers on the sides of the case so I can't open it without removing them. They have a serial number of 000821 printed on them.

4. From what I can see of the board through the vents it looks like the "repair" example on mvs scans, with 4 windowed EPROMs with the same colored paint stripe on each rom. The other roms are blank though with only a serial number 9630 D on the one I can see clearly through the vents. No toshiba or anything. The EPROMs are NEC. The back of the 2nd board looks clean, perfect soldering and looks legit.

Any ideas?

Could it be a repair and SNK simply gutted a ragnagard case for a replacement (no loss there)? Has anyone seen the "super high tech game" stickers before?

I have pics of the label and the stickers I can post tomorrow.

Thanks.

Repair job with the case replaced by the seller.

No one would boot a KOF96 - unless it's a boss hack or something.

If you want to be sure, open it up.

If even one chip has the correct game code on it, you can be 99.9% sure it's legit.
