I bought Sengoku 3 JPN AES from ebay last month. It was a new JPN copy of it and now he is selling another copy of this game. He mentioned to me he bought a JPN and domestic copy of the game from NCSX. He only wanted to keep one copy of the game, so he sold me the JPN copy.

Now he is selling another copy of the game, JPN. I think I was ripped. I guess I can open the cart and send pics. I am scared of opening the cart, I never did it before. I am pissed off. I guess I learned my lesson from buying rare games on ebay.

URL of the game I bought...

URL of new cart he is selling again...

Its not that rare, if it was the US version i would be tiny bit worried. Ive never seen a conversion of Sengoku 3 Jap or US. Have you asked him why he's selling another copy of it??? Post some pics, he uses stock photos.

Make sure you report him to both ebay and paypal.

When it's a high ticket item, with no picture of the item but the seller has a customized HTML layout on his auction. It means he knows how to take a picture if he wanted to. He's obviously not taking pics because he's hiding something.

I agree using a stock photo is very strange, ive also just read the original listing and the seller makes out in away that this is the only one he has then lists another one.

I have seen conversions of Sengoku 3 from a French seller earlier this year, going for about 180 Euros.

He even stated in the auction that they were conversions.

They could be legit but only the seller knows. I just find it strange that he had 2 copies and also the fact that all his auctions have pictures of the actual items except those 2 AES games.

JP version is rarer than the US version.

Should I post any photos? You think I should open a case on him on Ebay?

The only thing you can do if you think its a conversion is return it for a refund unless you open up the cart and check. no point reporting him. Ebay & Paypal will only say the same thing.

But is this enough evidence to open a case on ebay though?

mystikal1000: have you emailed the seller about this yet? Remember that the dedline for opening a case is 45 days AFTER you have paid for the item - since you bought it early June, it's cutting very close now.... if in doubt, then open a case for it anyway! Meanwhile, search around locally to see if anyone is skilled/experienced enough to open the cart to prove its authenticity. You can always close the case with a huge apology to the seller when you find it to be authentic! BTDT....

Post some pics on boots/no boots section, but I think the ultimate answer can only come from opening the cart(as always).... :eek_2:

Photos may not be enough
Send the cart to somebody who would be willing to authenticate it for you.

OK so I ask him if I can see pics of the game and this is what he said:

"Hello, thanks so much for your interest. Please let me know the reason you would like pics of the actual game itself? I can get them for you but I must know the reason why. Thanks so much,
Jeff"

Suspicious.

Nice! Answering your question with another question... very suspicious indeed!

That is probably enough for me to open an ebay case/claim already!

I opened an ebay case a few hours ago. Anyone willing to open the cart for me? I will pay for shipping... I will probably brake it...

Here is his response...(He never mentioned about buying multiple JPN copies of the game)

"I am very surprised by your recent message and for opening a case against me on eBay. I need you to explain to me in detail and give me specific reasons why you believe this Neo-Geo AES Cart to be a boot copy. I have reaffirmed with you on numerous occasions that this Sengoku 2001 AES Neo-Geo cart is 100% original and authentic from SNK. I explained to you that I pre-ordered and purchased multiple copies of this game back in 2001 from an Authorized Neo-Geo retail store and import video game specialist National Console Support (www.ncsx.com). Again, I need to you to cite specific examples and give me concrete reasons why you feel this cart is a boot leg and not an authentic copy as I gave you my word it was."

I have also taken a very big risk with a copy of Pulstar(AES) the seller says he's had it years and been very honest answering all my questions. He also tried to open it at my request but said it was well shut. He had it on bidding with a buy it now price which i used. there are some very small differences between the one i purchased and the conversions ive seen allthough these could be different factory prints, i dont know if pulstar has any.
