Thanks all!
-----------

I know a lot of you have been watching the work that smkdan is doing in the Tech section on the NeoCD debug bios, this product is a result of that. Anyone who makes consoled MVS systems from the MV1B and 1C knows how much of a pain in the ass it is to swap the surface mount bios to a regular DIP eprom. Its not all that hard, just extremely time consuming and honestly not the best looking thing.

Enters the NeoBiosMasta: NBM for short. (and for my friend NeoBomberman)

Anyway, this allows nearly anyone the ability to now swap their bios with minimal soldering. There are two boards, one for CD systems and one for MVS. I have done several 1B systems over the years and I always hated desoldering the original, cutting and stripping 40 wires, soldering one end to the board, then the other to the dip bios socket. By the time you're done you have soldered over 80 points and have 40 wires to deal with.

The CD system requires you to lift 2 pins, #10 and #12 from the original bios and solder one wire from pin #21 to the lifted #10. Pop on NBM over your 68K CPU and plug in the OE cable to the hole in front of pin #12. That's it.

The shield has to be cut to allow NBM clearance. It does not come in contact with the drive or any other components of the TopLoader CD system.

For MVS its pretty much the same thing. Lift pins #2 and #20, solder a bead between 1&2 of the original bios. Put the CE wire in its hole, pop on NBM to the 68K cpu and then put in the OE wire.

Before anyone asks, this does not overheat your 68k cpu or adversely effect it in any way. I left my 1b on for 48 hours straight and noticed no heat change whatsoever.

I don't have a 1C to do instructions on, but it wont be hard to figure out where the OE and CE.

For the CD guys that don't want to cut their shielding, I am working on an extension board. I already built in the capability to add a 40pin IDE cable that will move a socket daughterboard to the top side of the system. Issue I'm having is finding the longest possible length the extension can handle. Note, 7 inches is too long...

I'm opening preorders for these today for $13 a board. This does not include the bios. To give me time for assembly I should be able to start shipping out by May 3rd. All I need is a list of people who will want one and which model they want. I'll send a paypal invoice (or email notice) a week before I start shipping and payment can be made then. I haven't put them on my site yet, but I plan to in the next few days.

Thanks all!

Thanks, that makes installing a Unibios on 1C and 1B systems a breeze.

Sure will. No soldering for you, just plug 'n go.

I also wanted to thank Murray for letting me use his Top Loader for my testing!

Awsome! Link us to the order page! So even though the pin out is different between the MV1B and 1C it will still work?? Great.

So just to clarify, on the MVS if I remove the stock bios completely there is no soldering, just install the new bios to the socket then press the NBM onto the 68k? or do I still need to connect the OE?

You'll still need to connect OE and CE.

ok then ill have to install 2 wires

Install sounds so harsh. Just pop the wires in the holes and snap on the NBM and you're set. NBM will already have the wires soldered and stripped so you wont have to touch a soldering iron if there is no bios on your system. I also am including a pair of small vinyl stickers that will keep the wire down.

No order page yet and yeah, the pinouts are the same on the 68k so it will work on both 1b and 1c. If you look closely on the boards you will see 1B Jamma and 1C Jamma with an arrow. That shows the install direction. Same with the CD bios, arrows point in the direction of the AV ports of the system.

Anyone who wants one just send me a PM and I'll keep track of them.

Thanks for the support guys! I have a few more projects I'm working on. So, if things go well with NBM I'll probably release them sometime this year as well.

Just shoot me a PM for now. I'll see about rigging up an order page this weekend.

Oh and I'll have 1C install instructions probably early next week. Thanks to a helpful member. I'll see if I can get CDZ instructions here soon as well. Damn CD systems have a million freakin screws...

Kickass product! Everytime I see a new thread from you I know it's gonna be awesome. All I can hope for next is a Crossed Swords 2 MVS conversion :)

This just gave me wood. Tell me where you want payment sent and I'll send money for one for my 1C.
