GROUP A

France 111

GROUP B

Korea Republic
Greece 1

GROUP C
England 111
United States 11
Algeria
Slovenia 1

GROUP D

Ghana 1

GROUP E
Netherlands 111
Denmark 1
Japan
Cameroon 11

GROUP F
Italy 111

Personally I think that the following will happen:

France, Uruguay
The favorites are obviously France, who despite nearly missing their tickets against Ireland, still have a great squad and I see them going very far. Uruguay is a young team, compared to Mexico where Blanco is still playing the frontline...

Argentina, Nigeria
I'm not going to argue the odds there.

England, USA
Again, not going to argue the odds. US has a technically sound team. Could use more european players though... ;)

Germany, Serbia
Close one here because Ghana could easily pull out on top of the entire table if Kingson is on top of his game. Four years may have passed, but he's still great, especially in Africa where he was first team in the 'Frican Cup of Really Poor Nations.

Netherlands, Cameroon
Japan is going nowhere. Their team doesn't have anything but average dead ball kickers. Denmark needs an upset, and since they play Netherlands first, they may not get it unless they can recover from getting Orange Crushed in time for Cameroon. Don't bet on it. Cameroon has the easiest run in this table. May actually finish on top, but the Netherlands are still going to be one of the best dark horses in the tournament.

Italy, Slovakia
Why Slovakia instead of Paraguay? Marek Hamsik. Why Paraguay instead of Slovakia? I don't know why. I don't think they have a very intimidating squad. But I have watched Hamsik play for Napoli, and the guy is huge. He belongs at a bigger club.

Brazil, Côte d'Ivoire
I used to love Portugal, but this current team is going to get exposed in the midfield by a very good Côte offense.

Spain, Switzerland
Not sure overall, so it is a toss up. Swiss and Honduras have a lot of talent. Not sure why Chile was so favored.

France
Nigeria
-----------------------France
-----------------------England
England
Serbia/Ghana

Netherlands
Paraguay/Slovakia
-----------------------Netherlands
-----------------------Brazil
Brazil
Chile/Honduras/Swiss

Argentina
Mexico/Uruguay
-----------------------Argentina
-----------------------Germany
Germany
USA

Italy
Cameroon
-----------------------Italy
-----------------------Spain
Spain
Côte d'Ivoire/Portugal

Of course, that's just running on favorites

But imagining how the layout is set, it's highly unlikely that we will see England vs Germany or Argentina for a famous rematch unless one of them fails to get the top of their table.

Brazil would demolish Netherlands. The Dutch have a shit defense right now. Great offensively, and they play beautifully, but they will have issues scoring on a Brazil where the only obvious weakness is left back.

Italy will have issues with Spain right now. Gigi is not invincible. Much of the team is old and battered. Calciopoli Pt 2 will also cause havoc on the team, as it's about to unravel in the upcoming weeks.

France England would be an awesome match. Can't really tell which team will click first. I want to give the edge to England, but France has the best goalkeeper in Europe right now with Hugo Lloris, and can match England speed for speed on the flanks. France has some good goal scorers, but none built like Rooney that can run through a scrum with the ball and maintain control. Should be a brutal game.

They're going nowhere.

Stubborn coach, poor quality players and most of them are not fit.

As long as Queiroz leads, the ship will keep sinking.

Queiroz was great with Man U. What's his problem?

I gotta disagree with you with Mexico.

Obviously I'm Mexican but I am not blind, Mexico may not even move to the 5th game, but I definitely see them making it through the group stage. They've done it for 4 world cups in a row. It's just that 4th game they always struggle with. I don't know if you heard Wasabi but a promising young Mexican forward nicknamed "Chicharito" has just been signed by Manchester United.

And I do see Paraguay and Chile moving out of the group stage as well.

Paraguay lost their star striker definitely (Cabañas), he was shot in the head and is lucky to still be alive, so their frontline is definitely weakened. And Chile pretty much played the best soccer out of the South American qualifiers but we all know in the world cup, Argentina and Brazil are always the ones to step it up.

Mexico also have Carlos Vela and Giovanni Dos Santos, who were also both highly anticipated in the EPL, but haven't been able to shine yet. But why are we only talking about forwards? A team needs quality in all areas. Portugal has excellent forwards who play beautiful football, but the weaknesses in the rest of the squad make them likely to go out in the round robin.

Just my take on how things will play out. When I see a really well rounded team, I figure they should in all likelihood win. That's not to say that they will. But in likelihood they should win. A lot of teams going into this cup are not well rounded.

Portugal will get thru the groups, as it will only face Brazil in the last match.

Côte d'Ivoire lost all games in the African Cup and replaced the coach months prior to the WC, it will even lose to Korea.

Non-typical shit talking from you. North Korea will not beat anyone. And I would be apprehensive about betting against Sven. The guy may be hated by many, but he has a lot more experience than 90% of the managers.

I was thinking.....

A pool sounds like a good idea.

Best Way to do a Pool is that Each Team is RANDOMLY numbered.... and I'll pm the List to someone neutral.... err... I reckon Geddon_It... as John is a mod... alledegly... and is beyond reproach...

Can you suggest anyone else?

Each of you fookers Who want to parcticipate in the Pool choose a number.... Between 1-32... I will take the LAST Number after everyone Chooses...

After the Pool is completed i.e. the teams are taken... I will ask you for $5USD via Paypal as a GIFT!!!

I'll hold the cash... err... 32 Teams... $5USD = $160USD.... Which will be sent to your paypal account after the World Cup Ends...

...I will pay for the fees to your account so you get the WHOLE $160usd....

The teams are for your perusal:

South Africa
Mexico
Uruguay
France
Argentina
Nigeria
Korea Republic
Greece
England
United States
Algeria
Slovenia
Germany
Australia
Serbia
Ghana
Netherlands
Denmark
Japan
Cameroon
Italy
Paraguay
New Zealand
Slovakia
Brazil
Korea DPR
Côte d'Ivoire
Portugal
Spain
Switzerland
Honduras
Chile

SO... what do you say guys? Muhahahahaha!

xROTx:D

PS. PLEASE DO NOT Choose a number until the pool is approved... and I'll make a new World Cup POOL thread....

Look at Mexico results while he was coaching, can´t see he doing any better having half of the time.

wait - everyone can pick their own teams right?
Say Brazil wins. If everyone picked Brazil then everyone will get back their money. but say 10 people pick brazil, then the winnings are split pot/10. If 3 people pick the winner then it's pot/3.

I'm not picking Brazil.

Oh, france and uruguay definitely have better individualities, Forlan and Suarez are incredible forwards. Ribery is a great player. etc. Way better individualities than Mexico for sure but as you say its all about a well rounded team. Mexico MUST play as a team or they will not win against these teams. And top it off that they go against the host during the first world cup game. I believe the host has never failed to advance from the group stage. But I still have hopes Mexico will pull through, they've had tougher groups in the past and they still moved on.

And yea bottom line is vela and dos santos have failed in transcending but chicharito seems to have more potential than these 2 did. If Ferguson went after him personally I'm sure he must have seen something in the boy.

And for the record I don't see Spain winning the world cup. They're definitely the favorites but you know bullshit of some sort always happens. Not trying to hate but I don't see them winning the cup. Let's look at the confederations cup, my gut feeling tells me they will choke again.

You can't really predict anything until the world cup starts. Teams will lose players due to injuries, coach preferences, etc so we can't really make any real predictions just yet.
