Personally I think that the following will happen:
France, Uruguay
The favorites are obviously France, who despite nearly missing their tickets against Ireland, still have a great squad and I see them going very far. Uruguay is a young team, compared to Mexico where Blanco is still playing the frontline...
Argentina, Nigeria
I'm not going to argue the odds there.
England, USA
Again, not going to argue the odds. US has a technically sound team. Could use more european players though...
Germany, Serbia
Close one here because Ghana could easily pull out on top of the entire table if Kingson is on top of his game. Four years may have passed, but he's still great, especially in Africa where he was first team in the 'Frican Cup of Really Poor Nations.
Netherlands, Cameroon
Japan is going nowhere. Their team doesn't have anything but average dead ball kickers. Denmark needs an upset, and since they play Netherlands first, they may not get it unless they can recover from getting Orange Crushed in time for Cameroon. Don't bet on it. Cameroon has the easiest run in this table. May actually finish on top, but the Netherlands are still going to be one of the best dark horses in the tournament.
Italy, Slovakia
Why Slovakia instead of Paraguay? Marek Hamsik. Why Paraguay instead of Slovakia? I don't know why. I don't think they have a very intimidating squad. But I have watched Hamsik play for Napoli, and the guy is huge. He belongs at a bigger club.
Brazil, Côte d'Ivoire
I used to love Portugal, but this current team is going to get exposed in the midfield by a very good Côte offense.
Spain, Switzerland
Not sure overall, so it is a toss up. Swiss and Honduras have a lot of talent. Not sure why Chile was so favored.
