R-Type Command is a srategy game, actually. You might be interested in the Gradius / Parodius / Salamander collections, though.

If you exclude all of the compilations which can be played with better controls on larger screens, there's barely any. Darius Burst just came out though. I can't think of much else aside from that, unless you want to mod it and shove PS1 games on there, like so:

But only if you're desperate.

Picture's a few years old.. 2007ish. I no longer have that PSP, unfortunately. I really regret selling it as 2000's are better than 3000's, and 2000's are discontinued. A friend managed to get me a PSPgo on boxing day for $150CDN ($210 NZD; they retail for $450 NZD here) so I'm looking forward to getting some handheld action on. Not for shmups though.

The Saturn pad is a USB Saturn pad that was bundled with Puyo Puyo Fever in 2004. Works fine for shmups (touhou, platine dispositif and others) but it took a loooong time to break in.

Yeah would be nice to be able to play that, its got few nice booby ladies :) I played it and star soldier a bit years a go when I used to play my psp, but there's just not much use for that system to me these days.

I was browsing Play-Asia and just realized that the Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Collection comes with Sapphire, a super rare PCE shmup. I might pick it up just for that.

(The other games are a card battle game and...something else, not too sure...)

I think Ai Cho Aniki is the best one. Then the PS2 one Seinaru Protein Densetsu.

Thanks for the heads-up. I liked the PS2 version so I was eyeing on the recent PSP release, which apparently is to be available on PSN in the US. Guess I should skip on it this time.

Thanks, I didn't know that was released; totally worth the price for Sapphire alone.
