Amazon has the box art up now. Looks very similar to the JP box art.
Also, it seems that the release date Amazon has is just a placeholder.
The publisher is saying that it'll most likely come out later than that.

Ah, so Valcon is doing the localization. Based on games they've released in the past, we could be waiting for some time for this. Still, should be worth the wait to finally get this in NA.

A whole lot of yes for this! Let's hope it happens! The jp varsion has online co-op and boss rush mode. Man can you imagine boss rush mode co-op in RF1?! The bosses are enormous! Man I can't wait!!! ARRRRGGH!

It's going to be a while...anyone who waited for Valcon to release Daisenryaku VII for PS2 (like I did) should know what to expect. Their site is useless too, unless you like porn bots.

Whats going on with this game? I was at Gamestop and saw it on their preorder list but when I tried to put five bucks down they said it wasn't even actually listed in their computer anymore. Is this still coming out?

I wanna say I heard the same thing about Gamestop on Gamefaqs today... But Im not really sure.

I don't think it will come out on 5/5, just because it takes Valcon forever to release a game. They're a very small company, though, and they do good work, so I can wait. If you check their forums Colin, one of the guys who works at Valcon, posts updates from time to time. It is coming, that's for sure.
As for Gamestop, I ran in to the same thing. I asked about it and the employee said he had placed a pre-order the day before, but when he checked it had been removed from the system...so I just ordered it from Amazon.

I was getting excited, but Amazon finally officially moved back the release date to May 20. 
I wandered into EB Games today on my lunch break and plunked down $5 to preorder this in Canada:
From their information the release date is May 6, 2009 (tomorrow!) and it was priced at $19.99 (Canadian $).
Put it this way, I'm not holding my breath, but if I have this game by the end of the week there will be happiness.

It appears that the game is out now. It also seems that the leaderboards in the US version are indeed not linked to the ones for the Japanese version.
