anyway this topic has been fucking MURDERKILLED for the past year, I'm tired explaining why 1 is the best, so yeah, it just is

1 is the best. I think people like the others for certain reasons like alien lovers, mech lovers, camel lovers and the hate of terrorists.

I honestly believe 5 is worse than 4, its just shitty, 6 is one of the most boring games I've ever played, seriously, its fucking terrible, theres nothing to keep you playing, its just annoying, dull and boring as hell all the way through.

I picked 3 and not going to explain why.

I like 5, but what really sucks about it is the obvious incompleteness of the whole thing, and it's glitchy.

I picked the 1st one. I was thinking about 3 but that ridiculously long space-ship section takes it down a notch for me.

3 is just fucking not fun to play for me. Big ups for its difficulty, though.

I chose 3. 1,2,x, are all wicked games and I think 4,5 are okay too, but 3 is tops. The final level is epic.

MS3 is different everytime i play it

I went w/1, but I think the train level in 2/X is the best level in all the Slugs.

I correctly picked the third, but am disappointed that the sixth isn't even an option.

In all seriousness, I don't understand why everyone hates Metal Slug 6. Sure, I could nit-pick over the really little things -- like the death throes being unnecessarily altered -- but that would just be silly. The truth of the matter is this: it's a great game that ended a very cool story arc. It started with Metal Slug X, continued with Metal Slug 3, and concluded with Metal Slug 6.

Dude, you're a freaking tool. Metal Slug 6 does not end any arc. There was never any arc to begin with. It has the worst level designs, the worst level bosses, the crappiest final boss (outside of perhaps 5), and a lack of any of the original Metal Slug magic. 3 was the last real new Slug as 95% of the people here will agree.

Slug 1 is the best, nuff said. Who cares about the difficulty level. It's all about the magic of Neo and 16-bit in the mid 90s.

Keep your fingers crossed, maybe that'll drain the blood back to your brain.

There most certainly is an "alien" arc in all three aforementioned titles. Starting with Metal Slug X, Morden and his forces team up with the Mars People to defeat the Peregrine Falcon (PF) Squad, but -- amidst a sinister double-cross -- good triumphs over evil. Continuing with Metal Slug 3, it's more of the same: only bigger, badder, and better. The Morden/Mars People alliance results in more mutants, monsters, and zombies, the treachery is on a much more epic scale, and the finale is simply spectacular. Concluding with Metal Slug 6, the age-old allegiance seems to once again form, but is quickly disrupted by a new, more menacing force. This throws the normally predictable scenario into a wonderfully chaotic upheaval.

The level designs were gorgeous. I loved the first level: all that fiery golden wheat gleaming in the distance really set an unusually fierce tone. The downhill, run-a-muck train battle in Mission 2 was fantastic. I enjoyed the rocket that shot out, flew up, and crashed back down before finally detonating. The final boss was amazing. It fit the whole "alien" motif perfectly and -- depending on whether or not you rode the Rootmars in Mission 4 -- there were even alternate endings. Metal Slug 6 easily has almost, if not every bit, as much magic as its predecessors.

I'm not going to argue against the quality of Metal Slug or Metal Slug 3; they're both great, quality titles. However, I will argue that Metal Slug 6 stands on equal footing with either. That's all I'm sayin'.

Dude. What? Just. Wow. NO.

The backgrounds alone in Metal Slug 6 void any possibility of being on equal footing with the likes of MS1 or 3.

I like the first Metal Slug since it's a game you can pick up and play. Recently, I played MS 6 and found it very boring.

I'm not even going to attempt to play 7 on the DS.

The first Metal Slug is what got me into SNK games, and started this obsession but Metal Slug X is a really close second.

It was hard to choose between 1 and 3 but 3 takes the cake for me just 'cause I enjoy it more and I still haven't been able to 1cc, plus I love Fio too damn much!
