I think because it makes the game a little easier. Cave seem to put slowdown at the most difficult points in their games. It's like "yeah, we know you can't handle this, so we'll pretend your system is having a hard time crunching all the data."
Yeah, Cave slowdown is actually intentional for the most part. It's not due to the hardware bogging down. It's strategically placed with some thought behind it.
I kind of figured, but doesn't that mean that the design is somewhat flawed, then? I mean, if the only way you can play it is with slowdown, maybe they should only have six million bullets on the screen instead of six million and one.
Anyways, slowdown has always bugged the shit out of me, and I don't get why people are upset if it isn't there (in some cases).
