Cheapest SKS on GunBroker right now is $340 for some crappy Tapco monstrosity (they can be cheaper at gun shows I will admit).

BUT when you can still pickup a Century AK-47 for like $450 on GunBroker, it's a no-brainer to get the AK. My local gun shop has had them as cheap as $400 - which is crazy as from Sandy until maybe two years ago many of those spiked to maybe $650-$700ish. Century guns have a bad rep but they're really just fine as they're all built from EU ex-soviet block parts for the most part. If something is wrong with it (more than a canted front sight or something small like that) you ship it back to them and they'll fix it no problem.

Hindsight is always 20/20...

I have too much $$ wrapped up in that pistol to attempt to sell it, ARs are dirt cheap and no one is going to give me even close to what I have in that thing, so I'm stuck with it. Truth be told, of all the firearms I've had/sold, my ARs have been the largest zero return money pits...

No kidding about the price on ARs.
I was in Academy yesterday and saw new ones sub $500 otd.
I just had to laugh.
Almost bought a Beretta ARX100 but for $900 I want to feel more than "meh" when I pick it up.
I did pick up this pair earlier last week tho. :glee:

I'll say that I'm really enjoying this Bulldog. It's not the most refined, but the DA trigger is smooth (but hard) and shooting the thing is a real challenge to stay on target.

It's been a while since I had a firearm this difficult to master...and I'll admit that I'm enjoying it. Most of my other pistols damn near shoot themselves and good groups aren't that hard to attain. That 627 with a trigger job and red dot is a damn tack driver, and so freaking easy to shoot with .38 spcl. In contrast, the Bulldog is a pissed of jackhammer that if you don't stay on top of, it will throw a round 24" off target.

Does anyone have any personal experience with frame refinishing, paint job. I just bought another barrel for my firearm but the problem is the barrel brownish/black finish does not match the rest of the gun black finish. Is this something that can easily be painted by me or do I just need to hand it to a gunsmith.

EDIT
Never mind, found a local shop

The only time I have seen a deagle was in Snatch.

Broke the bank last weekend putting 100 50AE rounds through it, $2 factory loads
44 mag although significantly cheaper than 50AE is still 90 cents every time you pull the trigger
Got to disassemble and clean later

BTW I know you're being sarcastic about the Snatch thing.

Those things are expensive.
I don't remember the MSRP on the DEagle is but the Hudson is up in that territory.

Here in shit California you can only buy the 44 mag Eagle but luckily it's legal to buy the 50AE conversion kit. The gun cost $1650, the 50AE barrel and magazine kit was another $500. So $2150

It would be nice to have a gun with 15 round capacity like your Hudson, but unfortunately shit California

Wow, you won that. I thought the $1200 tag was bad.
Can you not get the .50AE version due to the .50 Cal ban?
Seems like every time I read something about Cali it only seems to get worse. I don't know if there's anything us out of state guys could do to help.
Just keep fighting 'em I reckon.

California has a small list of firearms that can be sold in this state, every year 20 guns drop off the list and only one is added. Manufacturers must bribe the state and comply with adding crazy so called safety features to the firearm they are trying to sale in this state which makes the gun in reality more unreliable. All handguns and rifles have a ten round magazine cap.

California really doesn't want you to have 50 cal weapons but excluding .50BMG you can obtain primarily the S&W 500 offf the counter and the Eagle through conversion, these are the only two you can buy as of now but come 2019 the Eagle will drop completely off the list in even the 44 mag variety. You can't get the Eagle 50AE straight out because it is not on the list only the 44 mag version.

I really wanted to buy the new Desert Eagle L6 light weight model but it's not on the list. I also wanted a Taurus Raging Bull 454 but it dropped off the list in early 2000. I also would prefer to mail order cheaper ammo but as of 2018 you can no longer mail order ammo in this state which is why I am paying $2 a round for 50AE. Oh wait it gets better, come 2019 you will have to register just to buy fucking ammo.

I guess you can help by proxy buying ammo for me, LOL
No but seriously help me buy ammo

California's laws only get worse each year.

I kind of want to pick up the new Ruger Pistol Carbine in 9mm before everything goes to shit. I was sold on the glock magazine well. I hope that gun gets some good aftermarket support in terms of stocks. Would like a nice wood stock for that.

I still need a .357 levergun.

Does anybody use an ultrasonic cleaner? How have your experiences with them been?

I basically want to be able to strip down my rifles and put the bolt assemblies in the cleaner (AR15 and AK47). Does this work well for people? I assume the little pins and such will fall down through the basket? No problems with that (don't know if the bottom of these gets gross with dirt settling there or what)? Do I just then take all the parts out and towel off everything? Do the parts need to be completely dry before reassembling and lubing? Can I put things like my entire AR trigger assembly in their whole, or would I likewise have to take everything apart to get it clean? (I shoot suppressed a lot so even my trigger group gets filthy dirty). I'm only finding smaller cleaners maybe 2-2.5 liters - are these big enough to fit a pretty long AK47 bolt assembly into? No problem with full size handgun slides? Any specific cleaner models to look into (within a couple hundred bucks)?

The other reason why I want one is I've been dreading cleaning my suppressor baffles. My two take-apart suppressors are an Octane 45 HD (think stainless baffles & aluminum tube), and AAC Element 2 which is all titanium. I've read this can ruin the finish on some suppressors and/or baffles if they rub against each other during cleaning? (or am I thinking of tumbling the baffles in walnut/corn media which? -- that I can also do if it's a better way to clean the baffles as I have a case tumbler already).

In a related note, Youtube has updated their policy recently and are taking retro-active action against previously uploaded videos, even ones going back years.

If you watch any gun related channels on Youtube, you may soon find them to be going away. Especially since many of the big channels do offer affiliate links to purchase some things. So if you watch or like watching content from Demolition Ranch, Tofladermouse (sic), Hicock45 or FPS Russia (to name a few off the top of my head) those days may be over. Some accounts have already noticed old videos being deleted.

This is the kind of shit that needs to lead to YouTube getting some stiff competition.

I've been wanting one for a while. Would like to have a big one but they get expensive fast.
Harbor freight sells one for $70-80 that will be fine for most handguns & other parts.
My basic understanding is you mix something with water to clean stuff.
Heat and vibration is what does the work.
Apparently they work rather well when you find the right cleaner.
You need to pay close attention tho, seems like a lot of the cleaners will strip a finish or ruin aluminum quickly.

Www.full30.com most of the bigger channels are already there & the sight is getting ready to open up to all content creators.
They eventually hope to have an entire family of delivery systems. (Website, mobile app, apple TV, Roku, etc)
It sucks but it's starting to look like we may have to bounce around to get all the content we want.

Numerous gun channels on youtube have subsequently backed up their channel's content on pornhub.

No joke.

No, a sonic cleaner is best described as a tub of heated liquid that cleans via ultrasonic vibrations.
A tumbler is literally a drum that you put marts + media in (like corn cob) and it spins around.

You're the second person who mentioned the harbor Freight one. Might grab one of their famous 20% off coupons and pick one up - really kinda wanted one large enough for an AK47 bolt (that's the biggest thing I would need to clean) but people said they do 1 side at a time or 15-20 minutes and it works OK.

Anybody know if these are safe to use with stainless and titanium suppressor baffles? And or the aluminum/titanium tubes themselves? (I know I need to use a metal safe cleaner).
