Hi,

My AES has this on the back:

My sticker says
NEO-GEO
MODEL No. NEO-AEC
RATING 8w
Use PRO-POW AC ADAPTOR ONLY
SERIAL No 90A .......
SNK CORPORATION MADE IN JAPAN

I am in the UK.

What power were the original AC Adaptors?

I have just played KOF 98 using 5v, but Last Resort wouldn't work with this, but was happy with 9v.

WTF??

I am pretty sure the UK Neo Geo is 5v 3A?

Floob.

If the board has a 7805 voltage regulator, then it requires a 9V PSU. If there is no voltage regulator then it requires a 5V PSU.

That is probably the safest way to be sure. It does obviously require opening up the system. Use a hairdryer to heat the feet for easy removal and replacement.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I'll open it up. Not sure what I'm looking for though - I'll take some pics.

That board revision is 9/10V.

The voltage regulator is in the bottom left of the second picture.

It is only the early boards that need 5V.

Thanks for that.

Weird the way some games work at 5v with it.

So some AES that were released in the UK needed 5v, and some needed 9v?
