just got a working board set as a gift. Rom check = 100% working... In sound test- "The sound processor not Responding" ?

The info I have states 2 channel sound -> whats that? 4 speakers total = L&R for each channel?

there are sound pins all over the board-
Take a Look:

Do I have to run extra power to any of the pins
and what sound pins do I use

it might require -5V for sound, like MK1+2 did. check if it's hooked up to -5V.

-5 is wired up... Where do I get sound? Just off the jamma harness or do I have to wire the JAUD pins on the board. At the moment my cab is wired mono so I havent tryed anything yet..

Is the volume control on those Atari boards built-in or you have to add it yourself? I mean, all Williams/Midway early 90's boards require that you wire a pot (not included with PCB) to some location or else you get no sound...I was wondering if that could be the case with Atari boards as well...

i've got the board, and a friend of mine had to do power connections and sound connections from my super gun to the Sound PCB. i have no idea what power is going into it though and the sound was wired up through my scart, so i dunno there either, not much help eh?! :(

Edit - I can tell you that power goes onto the pins to the above right of the jamma connector and sound connects to the row of pins behind the power pins.

on primal rage, the sound board is the smaller sub board next to the JAMMA connector. On the very edge of the board of both is two sets of pins. A connector for power should go between both boards, wired pin to pin directly. The comm signals go through the large header. Speakers come from the backside of the sound board.

I have a working primal rage here with sound thru jamma. It's got a small adapter board with cables running to/from the sound board.

I can take pics and will do so in the next 20 hrs :)

Together with the pics i sent ya and the pdf file you should be able to work things out :)

The plugs i have in the shots are JMPWR and JXPWR
They appear to have +5,+5,KEY pins empty on both the main board and sound board. Other pins are tapped from the small jamma sit-between board.

Looks to me that you can skip the sit-between board, and solder the bottom connector to the top connector 1:1 :)

On my board also wires are soldered from JAUD. The R+ and R- audio are connected to jamma audio + and jamma audio - on the main board. (the red wires in my pics.)

I'm having the same issue with getting sound. I don't want to solder anything because I hope one day to put this in a cabinet. The sound board has a red and green LED that each light up. Is there a way to just pull sound off of the sound board?

For these boards I think you need to add a volume pot. Should be pretty simple to add one since it plugs into a molex type connector. You also need -5v connected.

The sound volume control is found in the test menu for this game. No need for an external pot.

And you cannot hook up headphones to that header on the sound board, its meant to drive the speakers in the cab.
Get something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/XTRONS-2-Wa...148?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d2a18440c

Ooooookay, that makes sense to me, the PCB diagram says it has a high and low for the L, R & the Subwoofer
Xian Xi mentioned a Molex connector, would the high low out converter connect to a Molex connector?

You would need to crimp the wire with the proper contacts, but yes thats where the converter would be plugged in.

Is there a specific Molex Connector I should buy? Did a search on eBay and seems like there's different kinds

I ordered this as well as a backup that's similar. The backup came first and shortly thereafter I had sound coming from stereo speakers. Thank you so much everyone. You all rock.
