It will definitely help Disney’s plan to roll out a competing streaming video service if they have a diverse catalogue of media.

And I think Iger has been good about diversification. Star Wars was a huge scoop. They should go after more.

People talking about the merger have said Disney would likely end up just using Hulu since Fox has a large stake in them that would likely be included in the acquisition

Yes. To pretty much all.

The part about the bad Fox movies is true, absolutely- I just still think it's worth a handful of failures to, in turn, maybe hit on a few real gems (I'm obviously only a fan not a studio exec).

Not gonna see either, IMO, in MCU.

Well...there's this:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/12/business/media/disney-21st-century-fox.html

I have a feeling that Disney acquiring the rights to Deadpool....might kill Deadpool. I guess we'll see...I know Disney owns (or has owned) many other film companies...so maybe they'd leave Fox alone.

On a larger scale...I really do not like where this is going. Disney basically buying the entire film industry could be a possibility in the coming years...I cannot see this as being a good thing...
I've seen a little early speculation that Disney may actually leave some of the harder-edged stuff as is, which is surprising to me. I'll believe it when I see it, though. Hard for me to imagine Wolverine being added to Avengers and then turn around and make another R-rated standalone.

American Assassin. Good popcorn flick. I'm a sucker for Michael Keaton movies. Not gonna win any oscars, but the story goes by at a good pace and never felt bored watching it. They did a good job keeping the slower story parts short.

I also saw The Disaster Artist the other night. I'm normally not much for James Franco (I've only seen one of his directed movies and it was a turd) but I genuinely enjoyed how he played Tommy Wiseau. The book paints him out to be a giant asshole and while he doesn't quite go that far, there's an underlying menace behind the ridiculous accent and the childish tantrums as Franco plays it. Most of the funny stuff is either in the trailer or from The Room itself but it paints a decent picture of the weirdness of The Room and Wiseau's persona. I don't think it's really an Oscar movie (the younger Franco can't act his way out of a wet paper bag and the movie seems strangely hollow and empty for being 2 hours long) but I enjoyed it.

Don't know if it matters but I've seen The Room but don't think it's a "cult classic". I just think it's a hilariously shit movie with an interesting back story.

Speaking of hilariously shit movies, anyone who enjoys movies for how incompetently they're made has to check out Neil Breen's stuff. The movies he makes are insane. He's in a class all of his own. If you don't want to waste time with whole movies, you might look for "best scene" cuts on YouTube, but usually, it will be a third of the whole movie, because funny shit is happening all the time. Check it out:

Loving Vincent - the first fully animated film using paintings. Had been in production for at least 5 years. Technically impressive, so much that even if the story and dialogue is a bit simple, it is still worth seeing in motion.

Neil Breen is TOTALLY incompetent and will definitely give you an even better appreciation of Tommy Wiseau. He's totally full of himself and really doesn't realize that he's a shitty actor who happens to hire hot babes. I saw bit and pieces of Fateful Findings and it was awful. Seriously, the Room really does have more value than this slop.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

I've never wanted a franchise to die more than this one.

But Disney will keep flogging its corpse and people will keep coming to watch.

.5/5 stars. I can't even generate the heart to shred this movie.

Wow. Lowest rating you have given a movie here.

I haven’t seen it, but after the thread about it and the varying opinions, I decided this isn’t for me. I will wait for it to hit video.

X-Men films best to worst
Days of Future Past: the Rogue Cut
Logan
Deadpool
X2
X-Men
First Class
The Wolverine: Extended Cut
Apocalypse
The Last Stand
Origins: Wolverine

The Last Stand and Origins are total dogshit

Apocalypse is mediocre and very disappointing after a solid run of good films

The Wolverine and First Class are good

The rest are all better than any MCU movie, with DOFP and Logan being head and shoulders above the rest

I'm gonna pass this time. It would take me half a day to write a review and then I might have to deal with Star Wars cucks defending this shit show.

It's not just that 'it's not for me.'

This movie sucks.

The prequels are better.

There. I said it. And I mean it.

havent seen the new movie yet, so Im not going to defend a movie I havent seen. But your prequels/better comment is incorrect.

I refuse to believe they're capable of making a worse Star Wars film than Attack of the Clones.

I don't believe you. I can't.

I don't want to live on a planet where there's a theatrical Star Wars worse than Episode II.

Start building a spaceship.

Here is my crystal ball on the matter.

You might see The Last Jedi.

If you do, you won't agree with me because in your head, you've already stratified the position that Attack of the Clones is the worst thing ever.

But I assure you, even if your brain is telling you otherwise, The Last Jedi is worse.

When the prequels were done, I just wanted Star Wars to be better.

The Last Jedi makes me want the franchise to die.

More than that, I want someone to break into Disney, stuff everything Star Wars into a rocket and make Kathleen Kennedy fly it into the sun.

This makes The Last jedi worse than the prequels.

One of the themes of this film is to let old things die.

I really hope the franchise takes its own advice.

I thought it was good. A little long-winded, but entertaining nonetheless. It definitely was no Empire.

I was surprised to see one character show up "out of nowhere". Daisy Ridley is smoking hot.

I'll see Ep. IX, but I'm not chomping at the bit for it.

Therein lies the problem for everyone. They are fixated on their opinions indoctrinated into them through their prolapsed childhoods.

I finally got to see The Foreigner, thanks to it suddenly popping up on Netflix here in the UK after us not getting a theatrical release. Not my usual type of film, but I watched it for Chan and I quite enjoyed it. I'd have liked a bit more action, but that wasn't really the point of the film, so I won't complain.

Hot babes or not, no one in his movies can act. He's probably hiring the cheapest actresses Vegas has to offer. Or casino girls, or whoever is willing to play a romantic interest. And let's make one thing clear. Every female is hot for Breen in his movies.

I saw bit and pieces of Fateful Findings and it was awful. Seriously, the Room really does have more value than this slop.

This largely depends on what you consider to be of value. The Room is on the bottom of the movie quality scale, but Breen's stuff is on the edge of pure madness. He always portraits himself as a superhero type figure, a messiah, a super-hacker or whatever. And he clearly has issues with "the man". All wrongdoers are literally banks, lawyers, politicians and corporations. In every movie of his I await the moment when he blames everything on these four things.

Cold in July - Movie starts up pretty good then all of sudden throws a curve ball. Lots of plot holes and a lot shit didn't get resolved or explained. I like the theme of the first half and also the last part. Would have been better to just make two separate movies. Good cast.

Home Alone - haven't seen this in couple decades, didn't realize how arrogant and entitled kevs family was in this.

Last House on the Left - pretty brutal film and a bit uncomfortable. Usually these get toned down, overall it was decent.

Any family movies you guys recommend to watch or movies you watch as a kid that is appropriate to watch with little ones.

Watched Die Hard last night (wife asked to watch a Christmas movie) and the movie is as timeless as Al Leong’s love for Snickers bars.
