Finally saw Mission Impossible: Fallout. So much better at being a Bond movie than the actual last Bond movie that it's kinda sad.

It's crazy the drop in quality after Casino Royale. Meanwhile it's crazy how good Fallout was compared to the borefest one before it.

Thoroughbreds - Two estranged girl friends reconnect in their teens in waspy Connecticut and shit goes off the rails. Don't want to spoil anything. Highly recommended. Such a shame Anton Yeltchin died, he really got a chance to show how much potential he had.

Yeah that kid had a lot of promise

Sexually transmitted supernatural Terminator vs. slacker teens, just didn't work for me.

Scary way to go. Just imagining that situation playing out has my asthma acting up.

A week or so ago a guy in the U.K. died because his dog slipped his truck into gear and it crushed him. I can't decide which of the two of those would be the worse way to go.

I'd make a shitty joke about "man's best friend" but fuuuuuuuuuck that.

Watched Basket Case for the first time in 20 years. The early-to-mid 80s was truly a banner era for people coming up with the most disgusting, bizarre premises they can think of. I guess the advent of home video meant people didn't have to worry about going through the traditional studio system anymore and could just let their freak flags fly. Not a big fan of this movie personally but I like the old school special effects trickery and the limited use of stop-motion animation. For those who don't know, it's a siamese twin movie where the normal looking twin carries the freak twin around in a laundry basket. Hilarity and weirdness ensue.

Also watched Gremlins at the Alamo. Another one I hadn't seen in a long time. I guess Gremlins 2 occupies more of my brain space because I remembered this movie being more silly and not quite so dark and violent. Not that that's an issue. Just one of those "the mind remembers what it wants to" things. Great holiday/Xmas movie. Also good to see Dick Miller mugging around. The fact that this was PG back in '84/'85 when it came out is hilarious. Our "kids movies" were traumatizing and our movie icons were horror movie slashers and violent supermen. It's no wonder we think our children are soft and fragile.

rambo 4

i skipped this one when it first came out because never really liked the rambo films besides the first one.

just watched it and it was ok. but didn't like the plot. didn't like the reason the christians did what they did, didn't like the reason why they sent help to rescue the hostages and didn't like the reason why rambo got involved. but great gory action scenes. rambo was great as usual saving the day with one hand tide to his back.

didn't do what rocky balboa (2006) did imo, but it was an ok comeback to the series with great action scenes and shock value.

The throat ripping scene was the highlight of the film

Godfathers of Hardcore- Doc about Agnostic Front and the NY hardcore punk scene. Lots of great old footage but overall meh. Worth a watch if you were ever into that stuff.

The Predator

It was... OK? I guess. Not great. Olivia Munn is as overrated as usual. I did like Keegan Michael Key's character, because he's a funny dude. Tom Jane was kinda funny but for the most part it was forgettable.

Is it me, or is the main black dude villain that was hunting the Predator the kid from Hangin with Mr. Cooper?

Olivia Munn has been trying for a decade to get into movies. I feel bad for her. She just doesn't have "The Look" and thus will never break into superstardom.

How unfortunate to have charisma and be, seemingly, a good person on camera and yet never get cast because you just don't have "The Look".

Thomas Jane, christ we all know him as The Punisher and the regretful dad from The Mist, I almost didn't recognize him at first. Guess he's getting old as well.

Into the Spider-verse

Holy shit that was awesome. I've loved the Miles Morales character since he was introduced, so I'm glad he got an awesome flick for his first big outing.

I can't wait for the sequel, and I thought all the nods to Spidey 2099 (one of my favorite Spider-Men) were great.

Thomas Jane is old now. He was a regular on The Expanse. Hope you got to see it.

Olivia Munn is terrible in films. She is routinely the worst thing about every movie she's in. She has a certain acerbic charm, but it's more suited to talk shows. She'd be great on a sitcom. She needs a better agent.

The Predator was a miserable pile of gorgon shit. Avoid it or you'll be turned to stone by the fumes wafting off of that steaming pile

saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with the wife today. Very entertaining but a bit of an assault on the senses. This is the first time Miles Morales has ever been remotely interesting in my opinion. Peter Parker is still the boss, and he proves it again in this film even though he's let himself go to seed after relationship woes, which I think is fucking stupid because Peter, when written well, would never become a slob just because his marriage fell apart. I can certainly see him being burdened by it, but not someone just sitting in his apartment eating away his depression. That's not Peter.

HOWEVER...I went along with it for the sake of enjoyment and got over it. He's still the Peter Parker I know when it counts and that's what matters. Spider-Gwen was even great in this movie, and I HATE that character with a passion in the comics.

Nic Cage as the Noir version was excellent. I REALLY want a Spider-Man: Noir film in this style with Cage back again. He was very entertaining.

I'd give this one a recommend. As super hero movies go, this one is a lot of fun. It's no Homecoming and it can't touch Spider-Man 2, but it's probably the third best Spidey movie and that's not too bad.

Bingo. She has "The Look", I guess. Otherwise she wouldn't be getting cast in the first place. What she doesn't have is real talent or the ability to be anywhere near a versatile actress. She's one of those mediocre actors who always just come off as themselves.

Mercury Rising (1998) -- The first take in this movie is a methodically filmed chopper, that slowly, very slowly, approaches a small town, accompanied by another excellent John Barry strings arrangement. It accurately sets the pacing and the mood of Mercury Rising since it's not an action packed pop-corn flick, it's an odd-ball buddy movie.

I always liked Harold Becker films, though not perfect, they had this biblical morality inherited, to turn their viewers into better human beings after the screening, without entirely resolving how. It's not different here, because, despite all efforts of a heroic because nobody else is F.B.I. agent, the condition of a savant won't and can't be healed. Bruce Willis fills the shoes of the story's beleaguered hero with ease and a 12 year old Miko Hughes is stunning as the teenage version of Hoffman's Raymond Babbitt. Alec Baldwin's baddie, whose patriotism is only surpassed by his love for premium wine and a long-haired German shepherd, is a nice extra. Recommended.

She was the inspiration for Starry Eyes.

Olivia Munn is a cunt who tried to star fuck her way into movies and then turned around and small-cock-shamed Bret Ratner.

and yes, I am naturally averse to small cock shaming. every time it's done to me, it hurts.
