After logging some game time with ss3, I can say in retrospect that it seems to have inspired or attributed to snk's later work. It has a few kof elements (a+b dodge/turnaround, charge pow meter), plays similar to garou and retains some previous sam sho flavor. I really like the darker, richer look of the game and fluid animation. The sudden death background changes really set the tone for the end of the match. Much more atmosphere when compared to previous sam shos as well, with the music and again the changing backgrounds. I've grown accustomed to the gameplay which seems more about skill in taking advantage of your opponents mistakes than sheer force. Defensive strategy with sudden quick moves when your opponent leaves himself unguarded works best for me. In my opinion, this game was ahead of it's time.
