Gameplay is slower than AES. Oh my god and the sound lag is terrible on DC version!

Choose Terry and do a Power Wave it goes like this:

*power wave noise* (half second later).............

"POWA WAVE!"

It's so much better in AES Version because as soon as the Power Wave is launched, Terry says "RAH-CHOO!" And it feels really good to keep doing Power Wave over and over again because he keeps saying "RAH-CHOO!" "RAH-CHOO!" "RAH-CHOO!" "RAH-CHOO!" and then finish him off with a "AHH YA OKAY!" "BUST! WOOOOOAAF!"

I didn't have the patience to read through this thread past the first page, but all I have to say is is that I thought the DC version was great until I played the MVS... The real NEO thing is a hella lot better than the DC one, mainly because it is A LOT faster... it actually feels somewhat like a different game. SNK DOES suck at ports... the best ports I've seen on the DC are Twinkle Star Sprites (flawless) and Last Blade II (which I think seemed flawless). It's not a question on capability of handling a game but more like how good or bad the programmers are in this case... take KOF 99 for example, it sucks... A LOT on Dreamcast, but is a lot different on the NEO. I do not understand how you can compare the DC version to the NEO version...

On a side note, there is a slight graphical difference. If you notice, there is a slight animation lost, but nothing that bad as well as the character sprites are smaller. One other thing is that the original sound effects (I can't remember the exact term for the original sound effects) do have a delay to reaction time when you do a move... The other mode of sound however (forgot the name of that one to, but it's the newer version) is not delayed at all.

I'm probably going to get flamed for the truth.

If you play it on a american or Jap system it works just fine and is surely close enough to the real thing. It's not perfect but it's alot cheaper.

The sound is somewhat delayed and there are slowdowns in some SDM's and also the save/load systems seems to be designed around 1994.

If you have an american och jap DC, buy it. If you have an euro-system, don't even think of it.

Hi everyone, a few words from the average newcomer...

Actually I too have noticed how much slower Garou is on the European Dreamcast. I was just wondering if anybody knew of a way around the problem, so the game becomes playable at 60Hz / normal speed, without having to purchase a new console?

Oh you mean the two guys smart enough to buy MVS, and spend money on other things besides 400 dollar games? You're right! :D

I've got both versions and i'm no expert but i do prefer the aes version by a long margin. aside from no loading times (and they are there for the dc because it still has to disc access however much you dislike it...) the aes comes in fantastic packaging and is wieghty and will retain its value and escalate as the games collecting scene at large grows and grows.

If you are simply interested in playing the game and can cope not having cart instant access then get the dc version but i guarentee you won't play it as much as if you get the real deal.

The DC version and in my case, the MVS version are not identical. I have both. DC version suffers of sound delys and it looks kinda cosmetically clean. I'm sure it's because of the higher res. Allthough a good port. What I have heard, SNK makes the ports litle bit different in purpose for other platforms. Kinda preserving the classic NEO only quality.

Buy a TV with S-VHS connection. Or use RPG scart. I can run both the resolutions on my TV.

Hey. I have it on DC. Its a good game to play especially with the arcade stick. Now I never played the aes version and cannot tell the difference but a DC cd will cost less than a cart for sure.

Dreamcast version is as good as the AES, and it is cheaper than the AES by about $400.

Besides, I'm startin to think that SNK made as much money doing ports as they did in the arcades.
