Unlike the other thread, I'm looking for single credit accomplishments. That means 3 lives, and that's it. So far, my best is 6,002,380. Just to be clear on things, the last digit of the score acts as a counter for my number of continues. So yea...

That's me clinging to my 5 minutes of glory.

Any takers?

i would be 8th in your top 10

my best is around the 5.2 million mark

but if you have the dips set up to 99 lives of course you will finish it with 1 credit

us poor digs with a home system (un-modded, too scared its like granting an operation on one of my children) only get to play with 5 continues of max 5 lives a piece

Well, I only play on standard arcade settings; 3 lives and MVS/default difficulty. Even on jacked up settings(99 lives, etc.,), a score like that wouldn't be possible if I can't beat the bosses while finding every POW. I can usually get to the midpoint of the last level on 3 lives. I still have alot of work on the second half... that part is a total nightmare. Ultimately, my goal is to beat the game on a credit.
It will be done... eventually.
I just hope I don't loose my mind before I do it.

1.5 million at the arcade on one credit is the best i have managed. When i play at the arcade i only go for getting a high score on one credit, thats the most fun/challenging for me.

It's that 3rd stage that's giving you trouble, right? If you know your enemy placement, the stage isn't all that difficult... The boss being a totally different story. I'll give you some pointers if you want... the boss is nothing once you know how to dodge his attacks.

Yeah its the damn 3rd stage that i die on. I always go through the tube at the second underwater missle tower. I just get swamped by guys on that route after i get the Ostrich Slug. Perhaps there is an easier route? Anyway i just bought Slug 3 mvs :) and i should have my superguun built sometime later this month. i cant wait!

I recommend the straight-foward path... don't take the other route for the submarine or the ostrich slug. The Sub slug path is easiest, but there's no POWs for that path. The Ostrich slug path is a good challenge and there's a good bonus, but that path just directly takes you to the boss... meaning you don't get the Mordern enemy armor. The main path is not too hard... you just have to memorize where the enemies appear to get rid of them quickly. The boss is tough, but that's where the Armor comes in. Whatever you do, don't let the Slug Armor get destroyed. The bonus for it alone is 50,000+ points. Sit the Armor right below the Robot(so it doesn't fall into the molten pit). Use the dismount(Down + Jump) to avoid getting hit by the robots attacks. It takes practice, but once you get it, he's almost as easy as the Crab Boss. I recommend you use up the weapon your character is carrying first before you empty out the Armor's gun. It just make things easier... you don't have to constantly jump out to attack when you run out.

I was thinking the Ostrich slug path wasn't the best way to go to get the most POW's. The routes with the most POW's are the way i tend to like to go. Thanks for the tip. I can't wait to play my slug 3 :)

Welcome. It's no prob, I just want some competition... :) ... and for more people to appreciate this game for what it is. I just can't stand it when amateurs complain about the games' difficulty. Hell, if I can beat the game in less than 4 credits, then what does that say about them?

It's not impossible, it just takes practice and memorazation.

Hit me if you need any more tips. I'll be glad to offer any help I can give.
