I had this discussion with Daigo the other day and I just wanted to get yall's opinion on this topic. With SNK going bankrupt/outofbusiness I think that the traditional 2 dimensional fighter will be extinct in a few years. Of course there are the Capcom vs. games but I don't really count those cuz its just a cluster f*ck of special super combo's lighting up the screen like an elipileptic's nightmare. I'm more of a fan of 2D fighting with physical attacks(punch and kicks) with special moves thrown in. Super combo's are cool too but only SNK/Street Fighter Alpha types. Not Marvel vs Capcom type fireworks. Havin said that I think its a damn shame that Dreamcast and Snk are folding at the same time because all the other next generation consoles seem to focus on 3D fighters. And this just sucks. Although I like Tekken, it still hurts my eyes to play with angular characters who always look either constipated or robotic. Dead or Alive looks great but the attacks aren't as varied as a 2D fighter. Nothing and I mean NOTHING can beat sprite artwork and special moves, not to mention the style that SNK characters have because the programmers are only limited by their artistic ability- not 3D wireframes. I dunno it just pisses me off that I have nothin to look forward too but Virtua Fighter, DOA, or some more crappy streetfighter 3D fighters. Yeah 3D fighters can be cool sometimes, but they'll never look as good, play as well, or entertain quite like 2D fighters. End rant. What do yall think? Will Guilty Gear have to continue to fight the 2D fight?
