Gotta give a shout out to xsq and Xian for help with the wiring on the sticks and ShoottheCore for help figuring out that the video encoder on the home cart was bad!

Fancied making a CMVS recently. I know this casing has been done time and time again, but I really love the look of it.

Just waiting for a suitable power switch with an LED in it. Had a slip cutting the cart slot and now itís bigger than it needs to be. Thereís a few scratches on it - Iíll probably re-do the case at some point and properly protect it whilst doing the drilling and filing next time!

Thank you to Xian Xi for the tutorial on his site, NeoTurfMasta for the amazing NeoBiosMasta with VMC and Razoola for the unibios of course.

That enclosure was such a bitch to work with. I hated it so much I told people I'd never use it again unless there was a shop that could do the cutouts. Other than that, it is a nice enclosure.

    Great job on yours dude!!

Looks as if it was anodized after you cut the cart slot. If that is paint from a can, then I'm quite impressed. Good job, really.

Hey i'm building a CMVS out of an MV-1B, just trying to work out how to power it. I know I need 5v obviously but how many amps will I need?

    No more than 2.

    edit:

And for clarification where I got that from, I just observed my JNX CMVS while using the NEOSD playing a game and it consumed 5 watts from the wall. Max wattage I observed was 6.2 watts while flashing a game. This was using a Kill-A-Watt meter.

So, doing some math, 6.2 watts divided by 5 volts output = 1.24 amps.

And considering these little wall wart power supples aren't 100% efficient, it's probably more like 80% of that. So more like 1 amp.

The MV1C and MV1B have similar power usages. So yeah, a 2 amp psu should be good. So unless you are cramming a super power hungry video encoder in there, you should be good.

Yup, just 2, I only use 3A because I also use them for AES as well. Don't go lower than 2A though as you want some breathing room on your power supply. You don't want it running close to max all the time.

My next (and hopefully final) question is how to attenuate the video output for the framemeister, I read somewhere that 500 ohm trimpots are a good idea, or is there a fixed value resistor I could use?

For a consolized MVS board there is no need for adjustable pots. Typically people use somewhere between 120 and 150 ohm resistors to bring the RGB levels down.

James can probably give you exact values.

ok, I don't see what's ghetto about that... a tidy PCB with some wires.
